Anticipating Autumn’s Arrival

Happy Tuesday, dear readers! Are you anticipating autumn’s arrival as much as I am? If you answered yes, then you are at the right place. I love summer, but fall is also a favorite season of mine. My dreams are currently consumed by pumpkins, mums, and of course cooler temperatures. This August, Oklahoma temperatures have been scorchers with highs reaching 106. With temperatures this high, iced tea and air conditioning have been a blessing.

As autumn approaches, I am thrilled to be joining several of my talented tablescaping friends to bring you our early fall tables. Our gracious host is Rita from Panoply. A list and links to all of the participants can be found at the end of this post.

With our excessive heat, I was running a little behind in setting my table. I really wanted to be able to assemble my table surrounded by God’s beautiful handiwork. Being outdoors brings me so much happiness. I was just about to give up and set my table indoors when we received a much needed cool down. Yesterday, our temperatures were a glorious relief with a high of only 86. I was so happy to be able to set my table outdoors for you.

One of my favorite French tablecloths, graced with earth tones and colorful roosters, was the perfect choice for an early fall table. Green straw placemats compliment the tablecloth and provide a nice element of texture. Mikasa English Countryside plates, Spode Blue Italian plates, and green Sarreguimines Majolica plates make up the plate stack. Burleigh Calico teacups with an apple perched inside add a special touch. Red French napkins tied with red sunflower napkin rings make for a nice splash of color. I adore lots of color and pattern!

The flowers for my centerpiece were gathered from a few different locations. Sunflowers and coral roses were purchased at the grocery store. Sweet potato vine, trailing purple Lantana, and Coleus were snipped from my flower gardens. A green confit pot was used to hold my arrangement. Majoilca plates with pears and apples added an early fall touch since they are definitely in abundance this time of year.

Michaelangelo flatware by Oneida and Godinger Dublin glasses complete each placesetting.

It was such a wonderful day to be outdoors. The sun was casting such beautiful shadows throughout the yard. Birds were singing, and butterflies and bees were buzzing around. Please don’t tell anyone, but I may have neglected of few of my inside chores to enjoy a little extra time outside.

Just look at that beautiful blue sky peeking through the trees!

My dear friends, it was such a joy to set this table for you. Thank you so much for your visits and gracious comments. Enjoy your day doing the things you love!

Your tablecloth and dishes are gorgeous. But what really stands out is the beautiful flower arrangement. The mix of store-bought and home-grown flowers are perfection. Love the mix of colors. Using your confit pot is a great idea. I have two , but have never used them to hold flowers. Great idea!
