Tea on Tuesday-Sweet Tea on the Porch

Welcome to Tea on Tuesday, dear readers! You are all invited to the back porch to enjoy some iced sweet lemon tea along with a few delicious treats.

My talented and sweet blogging friends, Pam at Everyday Living and Mary at Home Is Where the Boat Is, share their love of tea on the third Tuesday of every month. This month they graciously invited me to be their guest. It is always such a joy to join good friends for tea. Links to their pretty tea settings can be found at the end of this post.

With the extreme heat and humidity, I decided it was best to serve iced tea. For my iced tea, I brewed two black tea bags along with two Fortnum and Mason’s lemon tea bags. Once the tea was steeped, I combined the teas with a simple syrup and additional water. I love drinking fruit teas in the summer months.

It is always a treat to sit, relax, and enjoy tea with a few small bites. It calms the nerves and lifts the spirits.

Anchoring my tea table is a French bumble bee runner by Crown Linen Designs.

My grandmother’s blue floral plates paired with La Rochere Napoleon Bumble Bee glasses and green checked cloth napkins provide a simple and pretty place setting. The china pattern is Blue Madeira by Lynnbrooke.

For a little something savory, chicken salad with apples and grapes served on croissants is perfect on a warm day.

Of course, you can’t have tea without some sweet treats. Last week while visiting Trader Joe’s, I found these watermelon and peach macrons and lemon bars. They are quite delicious!

My trip to Trader Joe’s also yielded some lovely flowers. For my bouquet, I chose purple mums, sunflowers, coral spray roses, and white veronica.

My dear friends, I am so happy that you joined me on the porch for tea. Your visits are a joy! I want to thank my friends Pam and Mary for graciously inviting me to join them today. Be sure and visit their beautiful tea settings. May you have a most happy and blessed day!

  1. Good morning, Shannon. Your back porch looks ideal for serving iced sweet lemon tea with delicious treats. I have been enjoying sweet tea much too often with these extremely hot days. CLD linens are so pretty and I love the French bumble bee runner. It is perfect with your grandmother’s plates and green checked napkins. Chicken salad is great anytime but especially hot summer days. I wish a TJ’s was close by, rather than 60 miles away. The bouquet is a stunning addition to your tea table.

It is a pleasure to join you for teatime. Happy Tuesday, sweet friend!

  2. Good Morning Shannon! What a treat to join on your porch for tea! Your lemon iced tea sounds perfect for a summer afternoon, along with a chicken salad croissant, macaron and lemon bar. The closest Trader Joe’s near us is an hour away so it’s always a treat to pop in when I’m in out that direction for an appointment. Your flowers are so pretty and I’m all abuzz over your CLD runner and La Rochere goblets. Love your grandmother’s sweet blue floral plates too! We’re so happy to have you join us today for tea. Hope you’re managing to stay cool with these sultry August temperatures. Happy Tuesday ♥
