Welcome to My New House Part 1

Good morning, sweet friends! I have missed you all so much! We are finally moved into our new house and are so happy to be close to our family. God willing this will be our final home, because I NEVER want to move again! It is amazing the amount of stuff you can accumulate in 23 years of marriage. It took two PODS, two U Haul trucks, one U Haul trailer, and two pick-up truck loads to move the contents of our home.  To save money, we decided to do the move ourselves.  I am still unpacking boxes, and it doesn’t seem like it will ever end. I have promised Mr. Bleu that I will never buy another dish. I just hope that I can keep my promise.

Wanting a home with some character, we chose to buy an older home in an established neighborhood. Therefore, some updating has been in order.  One significant change has been the interior paint color.  The walls were a deep brownish mauve, and it has been a challenge to cover up such a dark color.

In the next few weeks, I will be sharing all of the new spaces. Today, I want to show you the front of the house and foyer.

The neighborhood we live in is mainly comprised of Jack Arnold French Country cottages. I adore French Country, so it is the perfect place for me. It is like a story book setting with the cottages, mature trees, and pretty flowers.  Some day, I will have to take you on a tour.   We still have some yard maintenance to do, but we are getting closer to getting things in order. Next Spring, we will have lots of color with azaleas, dogwoods, and flowers. The flower beds were overgrown and had been neglected. I wish I had a before picture to show you.

Now, I want to invite you inside to see the foyer. First, before you see the new space, I want to show you the before picture. The paint color was much darker than it appears in this picture.

We changed the paint color to Straw by Benjamin Moore. I love how it lightened up the space. It just made it seem so much brighter and happier.

We purchased a new chandelier for the space. Since it is visible from the dining room, it is a compatible piece to that room’s chandelier. I will be sharing that space with you soon.

At the end of the foyer, I created a sitting area using a French Country bench.

Moving can be such a humbling experience.  Both Mr. Bleu and I are so blessed to have such wonderful parents who have helped us with our move.   I am also blessed to have such a sweet sister in law and brother in law who were also a tremendous help. My sister in law acted as our real estate agent, and we could not have made it without her. God has truly blessed me with the greatest family ever, and I am so thankful to be able to spend more time with them.  I love them all so much, and I am truly grateful that this opportunity was granted to us.

I can’t wait to show you more of the house, but I will have to go for now.   I am so happy that you stopped by today, and I hope that you have a blessed and happy day!!!

Yes, it is one of the most difficult things to do … move … We have done it many, many times and will be making 2 more in the future .. moving to a rental … then to our “right sized” home after it is built.
