The French Estanier Cabinet

Happy Wednesday, dear friends! I hope this finds you well and enjoying these last weeks of summer. Fall is right around the corner, and I can’t wait! As much as I love summer, I am so over the sweltering heat.

My family and I are staying close to the house only leaving to pick up curbside groceries or go to doctor’s appointments. Lately, blogging has taken a back seat, because I have had a difficult time getting around.  In April, I sprained my ankle and fell carrying groceries into the house. Being scared of getting sick, I stayed home and treated it myself. However, after several months my ankle didn’t get better, and I was starting to have terrible back pain. I finally had to give in and go to the doctor. It turns out I just have a terrible sprain, and the doctor prescribed some physical therapy.    I think it may be working, because I am getting around a lot better and finally feel like blogging again. Today, I am so excited to share a new find with you.

A few weeks ago, I spotted this gorgeous French Estanier cabinet on my favorite consignment shop’s social media page. For years, I have dreamed of owning one. As soon as I saw it, I called the shop and bought it sight unseen.  Mr. Bleu and I masked up, and went to town to pick it up.

The cabinet is the perfect place to house my Majolica collection.

To make room for the French Estanier cabinet to be placed on my Country French buffet, I switched the bench and cabinet placement. The bench once resided on this wall. In a moment, I will show you where the bench has been placed.

Shopping the house, I found these lamps to place on the buffet.

Wanting to give the lamp shades a Charles Faudree look, I embellished them with some trim I had on hand. It was simple as pie with a little hot glue. Charles Faudree always had the most gorgeous lampshades in his designs.

Below is the way the lamp looked before the trim was added.

The Country French bench is now where the buffet once stood.

This summer, I have been enjoying my zinnias. Gardening has been such a blessing during these difficult times.

Sweet friends, I have missed you all so much, and I am so happy to visit with you once again. Take care, and have a most beautiful and blessed day!

  1. Love it all. Glad to hear your getting better.

  2. It is so good to hear from you Shannon! I know exactly what pain you are going through with a sprained ankle. I sprained mine as well back in early March hiking down a mountain and refused to go to the doctor because of Covid. Mine took 2 1/2 months to heel. I still do stretching exercises for it.
Your French shelf is exquisite and a gorgeous find! Your majolica collection is styled perfect there.
And the new home for the bench works perfectly.
Happy day to you my friend… feel better my friend!

  3. I love the blue and white decor you so often highlight for your readers. Could you give us some tips on where to shop for lamps? Yours are beautiful. I especially like what you did to embellish the shades.

  4. Oh Shannon, it's absolutely stunning! I am impressed you were able to find and buy such a wonderful piece during these times of limited shopping, and it looks gorgeous with your special plates on display. Your home certainly does not reflect the fact you've been hobbling around, it looks perfectly beautiful and squeaky clean. I am so sorry to hear about your fall and pains, take care and do what the therapist says 🙂

  9. It’s beautiful! I love wood pieces with gorgeous carving detail. So glad you are feeling better, I completely understand not wanting to go to the doctor. I have had several health issues come up lately. Also trying to stay home, but I do get out and go antiquing occasionally during the week when the stores aren’t very busy at all and wear a mask, so it’s pretty easy to socially distance. Also been browsing Etsy a lot, but the shipping for larger items is usually a turn off, so I stick mostly to small lightweight items. Take care and thanks for sharing your lovely home!

  10. Love your new piece and it is the perfect way to display your lovely Majolica plates! I'm sorry to hear about your ankle but glad you are making progress. My husband tore his meniscus in early June and is slowly making progress after surgery. PT is a great thing! Take care!
