I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend. My parents, who live three hours away, came for a visit Saturday and spent the night. My mother was doing some decorating in her home and was needing some decor items. We had so much fun shopping and found some really pretty things for my parent’s house. I’m can’t wait to see how it all looks. After my parents left on Sunday, my in-laws, who live two hours away, called to say they were going to be in Oklahoma City for the day and invited us to an early dinner. Needless to say, we ate a lot of delicious food this weekend. My husband, kids, and I feel so blessed that we were able to see our loved ones. We miss them so much and wish that we could see them more often.
Today’s post is actually part two of three of the French Country Bonus Room reveal. I have already shown you my favorite spot in the room, the reading nook. Now, it is time to share the living area of the room. This area is where we hang out together, watch movies, and eat popcorn.
This room was entirely decorated on a strict budget. I purchased the sofa at Joss and Main for a really good price. I used a neutral sofa in an oatmeal color to lighten up the room.
The rug was purchased from a moving sale. It is a Pottery Barn wool rug in a Jacobean print, and I bought it for an unbelievably good price. I love the rug’s rich, saturated colors of red, yellow, and green. I feel that it provides a good anchor for the furniture placement in the room.
The lamps that flank the table were my mother’s lamps. She bought new ones and gave these to me. I replaced the shades with these new ones that were purchased from At Home. For that perfect French Country touch, I added red tassels.
The chairs belonged to my in-laws. I purchased the artwork from a moving sale. They are by Mary Kay Crowley and are signed and dated. The table is an antique that I found on Craigslist. It was originally purchased from Charles Faudree’s store in Tulsa.
I have rocked all of my babies in this rocking chair so it is very special to me. It is one of those things that I could never part with.
Below is the sofa table.
Thanks so much for stopping by for the upstairs bonus room tour. Wednesday, I will be sharing the final part of the tour, the home office. I hope that you have a blessed and wonderful day!!!
Such a warm and cozy room filled with beautiful things such as the wonderful artwork you found at a moving sale….You certainly have found some great things from moving and yard sales that fit beautifully in your room. How great that you lived near a Charles Faudree store…love that table!
Thank you so much Shirley! This room was definitely decorated on a budget, but I took my time and shopped the house, Craigslist, estate sales, and online sales. I hope that you have a blessed and wonderful day!!!
Never commented before, but have to say I enjoyed the whole post very much and your room is special not only for the decor, but for the sentiment behind some of the pieces as well. I love the two prints and the colors in them. And, how blessed you are for the visitors and all you got to do; treasure those times!
Karen it is so nice to hear from you. I’m so glad that you commented, and I am very flattered by your very sweet and gracious comments. You have made my day! I do so treasure the time with loved ones. I’m at my happiest when I am around them. I love having visitors at my home. Shannon, your room is a lovely space. I can see why your family enjoys relaxing here. Love the colors and the sentimental pieces. Adding things over time created a layered look that feels natural and lived in. You’ve done an excellent job. Love that cute doggie, and the art you found at the moving sale looks like Pierre Deux vignettes. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you for the very kind comments Sarah. I love what you said about “adding things over time to create a lived in look.” That is exactly what I was trying to do. I’m so glad that you noticed. I’m so happy that you stopped by, and I hope that you have a wonderful week!!!
Shannon, I so love your room…warm, cozy, and inviting! Not only beautiful but meaningful. I love things with a story! Have a joy-filled week! Pam @ Everyday Living
Thank you so much Pam for the sweet comments. I hope that you have a blessed and wonderful week!!!
You are a gal after my own heart – as I absolutely love French country decor (and reds & yellows). You did such a nice job decorating the room. I am impressed that it was all done on a strict budget! I especially like your antique Charles Faudree table. It has such a beautiful tone. I also like that you have included the chair you used to rock your children. New isn’t always better – and I prefer pieces that have a story to tell. Thank you for sharing your home.
Best & Bisous,
