Dining Room Update

Good morning, sweet friends! I hope that the month of March finds you well and in good spirits. I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks, but we have had a lot going on. I have been wanting to show you the new wall color in the dining room, but we have had little sun. Yesterday, we had snow and the reflection from the outside made for the perfect light to take pictures.

If you remember, the wall color in this room was a dark green and was the original wall color. When we moved in, I decided to try to live with the darker wall color. However, as months passed, I found it was just too dark for my liking. Don’t get me wrong…I love color. It is just that we live in a heavily shaded neighborhood, and lighter colored walls allow for more light to reflect indoors,  Below is how the room looked before with the darker walls.

After Christmas, I had plans to paint the dining room. I had a few colors in mind. However, my sweet blogging friend, Pam, at Everyday Living had just painted her dining room Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore. When I saw her beautiful room, I knew that it was the perfect color for my dining room. If you don’t follow Pam, you should. She has the most beautiful home, gorgeous gardens, and loves to set a pretty table as much as I do. She is the epitome of southern grace and hospitality.

Before the holidays, I purchased new host and hostess chairs for the dining table,

I had coordinating pillows made for the two armchairs flanking the buffet and hutch,

For the dining table centerpiece, I recently found this footbath at a consignment shop. I had been looking for one for quite some time and was so happy to find this one, For now, I just placed a plant in it. However, I can easily take it out and put something different in it as the seasons change.

Flanking the footbath is another recent find, two antique Italian Tole Candelabras.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear friends! If you are dreaming of spring as much as I am, you will want to stop back by tomorrow. I am joining my tablescaping friends to bring you our spring tables. Take care, and enjoy your day!!!

  1. Shannon, your dining room looks absolutely gorgeous! I loved it before, but the Palladian Blue makes the room sing. The host and hostess chairs add so much charm, and the fabric is so lovely. I have been looking for antique candelabras, and these Italian ones are stunning. The footbath adds the finishing touch! The room is perfectly beautiful! Thanks for the shout-out sweet friend! Wishing you a wonderful week!

  2. Penny at Enjoying The Simple Things

The color looks just as beautiful on your walls as it does Pam’s! Love your new footbath and candle holders.

  3. Shannon, what a lift for you and your new room. The dark green that was on your walls is about the same shade as was on our master bedroom walls when we moved into our home. It was one of the first things to go. Your new color actually added life to your room – it is beautiful. Your antique candelabras are gorgeous as is the footbath. Such great finds. All together lovely.

Have a wonderful week, my friend – spring is coming!

  4. Ooh I do love how this looks! I love that color and have been enjoying seeing it on Pam’s blog. I’ve been considering a hutch in black and seeing yours inspires me especially with the new lighter color. I need to repaint my kitchen and dinette area but can’t decide which way to go. Your chairs are lovely too!

  5. It looks fantastic Shannon, much brighter and it gives the room a lighter feel! As much as I loved Pam’s red dining room, I think the Palladian Blue makes for a wonderful backdrop for almost any color/theme table you want to set! Beautiful!

  6. Shannon, I think we all gave a thumbs up to Pam when she painted her dining room Palladian Blue and the same goes for you and your dining room color. I guess I am a sap for color because I love all colors. Pams original red and your original green were also great. ;( . The accent chairs are perfect for your area. What a find with the foot bath vase and the candle holders. Lucky you. 🙂

You have no idea how I enjoy seeing what you OFFER every time.
When I open my computer and see your website appear I smile.
    Thank You!

  8. Bobbi Duncan

Love, love, love the new color, and it’s perfect with all your blue and white! I’m going to go get a sample to try in our French country master bedroom as I have blue and white porcelain pieces in there. I may even use it on the main level to go with the porcelains of the same colors.

    • Thank you, Bobbi! I really think you will love the color. It is so pretty in person. I loved it so much that I painted the inside of the bookshelves in the living room the same blue. It makes the perfect backdrop for my blue and white pieces along with my Imari collection. Enjoy your week!!!

  9. Beautiful Shannon!!! Are your chairs from Ballard’s? I ask because I’ve been planning to replace my chairs with dinning wingbacks also!! My office is Palladian blue! It’s a great colour isn’t it! I’m sure your guests love sitting at your gorgeous table!

    • Hi Rebeca! Thank you for the sweet words! Yes, the chairs are from Ballards, and I have been very happy with them. I have ordered several items from them, and I am always pleased. Enjoy your week, sweet friend!

I love the wall color. It’s a great improvement, and the whole room looks lovely. I’m wanting to change my dining room paint also. I have dark wood furniture too and you’ve shown me that the light blue I’m thinking of would look great!

  11. That is the perfect color, not gray, not blue, not green…works so well with your woods and everything else! Love it!

  12. Love those host and hostess chair for dining table, makes you and your significant other look like king and queen. 🙂 Good call to go with the lighter wall color. It makes space more airy, bright and allows every beautiful piece of furniture to truly shine. Your dining room and its vintage vibe are simply stunning!

  13. Do you know the fabric name/manufacturer for the fabric you used on your side dining chairs? It is so hard to find a dark blue that works well for chair seats.
