A Traditional Christmas

Happy Thursday, dear friends! I hope that you are having a merry week during this Christmas season. We will blink, and it will soon be gone. It is my favorite time of year, and I am savoring every drop of it.

Today, I want to invite you in to show you my living room dressed for Christmas. I adore traditional decor, and I am quite sentimental. Therefore, you will find this room reflects those traits. So come on in, have a seat, a cup of tea, and have a look around. I’m so happy that you, my friends, have stopped by for a visit.

Not much changes from year to year on this tree. It is always decorated with my collection of angels, holy family ornaments, and pretty baubles.

Magnolia garland, plaid ribbons, a magnolia wreath, and my Grandparent’s nativity adorns the mantel.

Not being able to purchase flowers this year, the coffee table is pretty simple, but I still love it. I shopped the house and placed a red ginger jar, flameless candle on a Waterford candle holder, and a depression glass bowl filled with ornaments upon a mirrored tray. I think it creates the perfect Christmas vignette.

My favorite Scottish Santa resides on the sideboard. I gifted him to my Grandfather several years ago for Christmas. When my Grandparents passed, it became part of my Christmas tradition.

Here and there, for another holiday touch, I placed Christmas picks. This is an easy way to decorate without having to put things away.

It is my wish that you savor every minute of this glorious Christmas season. I know our circumstances are quite different this year, but the meaning is still the same. We were given a tremendous gift on that magical Christmas day so long ago. That gift came with hope…a hope that we must all keep close to our hearts. Take care, my friends, and may God bless you all.

  2. Your tree is a show stopper Shannon and the magnolia leaf garland on your mantel is gorgeous! Traditional decorations and memories are what Christmas is all about, and your grandfather's Scottish Santa is wonderful! I can't believe December is flying by so quickly, I hope you enjoy many holiday moments in your beautifully decorated home!

  3. I love the traditional decor and you have aced it! The only thing that would be better is to join you for a cup of coffee or tea in front of the fire and chat our cares away. Have a blessed day.

  4. Shannon, I love your traditional Christmas in your beautiful living room. Like you, my decor doesn’t really change from year to year. Christmas is about memories that I hold dear to my heart, just like you. The Scottish Santa is so sentimental with it coming full circle back to you. The tree is magical, now if only I could enjoy a cup of tea with you!

  5. Every element is perfect in its surroundings. That requires a special skill.

Shannon, your living room is just beautiful! Nothing compares to the memories that come with things put out year after year; remembering what we did on the day we purchased a certain piece of holiday decor, something made by our children, or a cherished item passed down. Wishing you all the things that bring you the most joy this holiday season, and the hope of a far better 2021. Hugs!

  8. Good morning, Shannon. Your living room is so beautifully dressed in all the glory of the season. I have always said you have such a magic hand with details and this room is proof. The special things that are dear to us make our homes a beautiful shelter. And, this year that helps our weary hearts.

I very much enjoyed my visit, dear friend. Know, I wish you lovely December days full of love and joy.

  9. Shannon, I love traditional Christmas decor. The room is lovely. I really like the natural stone fireplace too! Merry Christmas to you and your family!❤️?❤️

  10. Your Christmas decorations are truly a visual feast. Everything is just perfect, with little touches here and there. I love the mantle display with the Nativity prominently arranged in the center and the magnolia leaf swag showcasing everything. As a Scottie lover and owner, I adore the Scottish Santa and will hope that Santa brings me one this year!

May you have a blessed Christmas.

  13. Hi Shannon,

I love your home so much! I would love see all of this French country in person.

You have so many pretty treasures and family pieces. Love your grandparents nativity.

Your tree is gorgeous. Nothing on our trees change much either.

It's been a pleasure seeing your home filled with Christmas.

    Merry Christmas!

  14. Shannon your living room is so beautiful and festive? I love all the red on your tree and esp your toile red drapes – can you tell me if these are the same ones you used for your dining room in the blue color? They look like very good quality and I love them? The red fabric chairs and JUST everything in your room is gorgeous- Thank you for sharing and Happy New Year?

    • Hi Judi, thank you so much for your very sweet comment! You are correct, the curtains are the same ones I hung in the dining room. I loved the ones in the dining room so much that I decided to go with the same ones in red for the living room. I found them on Amazon, and they are by Maison d' Hermine. For the price, they are really nicely made. Thanks again for your very thoughtful comment. Happy New Year!

  15. I'm a little late to the party, here, but I LOVE your holiday decorating Shannon! Your home is always so welcoming, and I wish I could have stopped in for a cup of tea and admired your beautiful tree in person! Hope you had a great holiday my friend. Here's to 2021!
