Good morning, my dear friends, and welcome to Monday Morning Blooms. I am so deeply honored and thrilled beyond measure to be a guest on this edition of Monday Morning Blooms. I am a girl who loves anything that has to do with flowers! Therefore, this is one of my most favorite blog post to read. This morning, I am joining my flower loving friends Pam at Everyday Living, Shirley at Housepitality Designs, Lidy at the French Garden House, and Mary at Home is Where the Boat Is for some flower inspiration. I am always amazed and inspired by their flower designing talent.
In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, this week’s theme is a patriotic one. Photographs and links to my friend’s beautiful creations can be found at the end of this post.
If you are new to my blog or visiting from one of the other sites, I want to welcome you to my home. One of my most favorite joys in life is hosting family and friends. My decorating style is traditional with a mix of French and English Country. I love to decorate with color and adore antiques and anything blue and white. In addition, I have a serious addiction to collecting pretty dishes.
Today, I want to invite you outdoors for some tea and sweet treats. For the past month, we have been busy as bees in the gardens and waiting on our flagstone patio to be completed. I promise in future weeks to give you a tour of the new space. For now, let’s gather around the table for a little “flower talk” with a patriotic flare.
For generations, my family has gathered each Memorial Day to share a dinner, decorate the graves of our loved ones, and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our beloved country and precious freedoms. Originally Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day. It originated in the years after the Civil War and evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars. It now encompasses World War I, World War II, The Vietnam War, The Korean War, and the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
For the underpinning of my patriotic dessert table, I chose a blue and white French tablecloth.
On the tiered dessert tray, you will find yummy frosted sugar cookies and iced brownie bites.
You cannot have a patriotic display without our beautiful “Old Glory.”
I arranged my bouquet of flowers in a Spode Blue Italian pitcher placed on a coordinating platter. For some odd reason, we had a flower shortage at our local grocery stores last week. One store was completely sold out, and the other had very little. With rain in the forecast, I only had one sunny day to take photographs. Therefore, I had to do the best that I could with what I could find at the store and by foraging my yard. A large blue hydrangea, white spider mums, snapdragons, salvia, and red alstroemeria were assembled to create my patriotic arrangement.

It is stunning with your combination of garden and grocery store flowers. Our grocery stores were low on flowers too on the heels of Mother’s Day and with supply chain affected by the gas shortage. The French tablecloth is lovely as the foundation for your patriotic tablescape. Flowers were somewhat scarce here, but you assembled a beautiful array of blooms. What a beautiful way to celebrate the coming of summer but also to be remembering those who made us free. I have many Spode pieces as we got to visit the factory a number of years ago when we were across the pond. I never, ever get tired of looking at them or using and how glorious they are paired with red. Love your tablecloth and pillows and beautiful outdoor space!

I adore your french tablecloth and patriotic vignette complete with your beautiful blue and white dishes and flag display. Despite flower shortages and good light to photograph you did so well. I relate to both circumstances.

Your patriotic setting is charming! I think the flowers and flags make a perfect statement for your alfresco tea table. We, too, are covered in grey skies and rain, but this gardener is not complaining. The hot, dry days of summer are lurking nearby! I'll be eager to see your new garden design. We are in limbo to get our garden replanted after winter's unkind visit. I'm trying to be patient, but my garden loving heart is restless!

A beautiful setting, love the garden and trees. Having never been to Oklahoma I have had in mind it all looks like that wide, sweeping, flat farmland plains seen on The pioneer Woman! Silly, I know. Your flowers turned out quite nice.
