A Merry Christmas Home Tour

Merry Friday, dear friends! Are you ready for Christmas to arrive? It is amazing how quickly the season has flown by. I have finally finished my shopping, and all of the wrapping is finally complete. Tomorrow, my daughter Caroline and I will bake our cookies to deliver to neighbors, friends, and family. This is a tradition that I always look forward to.

Today, I want to invite you inside for a cup of warm cider and a tour of my home decorated for Christmas.

This sweet pup greets you as you enter the front door. Long time readers know that I had a poodle named Rusty. He was my devoted pet for almost 17 years. I loved him dearly. Last year, my dad and mom surprised me with this Christmas poodle, because they said it reminded them of my Rusty. They loved him as much as I did.

As you enter through the front door, the French buffet and shelf is dressed for the season with greens, berries, ornaments, and lots of ribbon. I adore pretty ribbon, and it can add so much Christmas charm to your space.

My tree doesn’t change much from year to year. I may change the ribbon, but the ornaments have been lovingly collected through the years. You will find a menagerie of angels and ornaments depicting the Holy Family. As we were decorating the tree, Mr. Bleu reminded me that this will be our thirtieth Christmas as a married couple. Pretty crocheted and hand painted floral ornaments that both my mother and grandmother bought me for my first tree graces the tree for another year. I can still remember how proud I was of that first tree in our tiny rent house.

I am a traditional girl when it comes to my Christmas decorations. I love lots of red and plaid!

Bouquets of red flowers, berries, and pheasant feathers fill the mantel vases. Red and cream candles are scattered about to add a lovely glow. A pine garland tied with pretty ribbons is hung from end to end.

My sweet friends, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and health New Year!!!

  1. Shannon!! This is a feast for the eyes and the soul! Can you hear me oohing and aching ? This is all just extraordinary beautiful. The detail, the amount of creativity and care you put into every little bit. I too love plaid for Christmas (any time of the year, actually!) and you have included it in every single little nook and corner. Your tree is stunning…one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. But the angel with the plaid in her gown is just breathtaking. I love the Mr. Bleu remembered your tree from the beginning of your marriage. What a lovely and sentimental thought. I am getting close to eating up ALL your space for comments, but please just let me send my warmest wishes to you and your family for a wonderful Christmas, and all the best for the new year…when you will write posts that are just so delightful. Enjoy making cookies with your daughter; it's one of the things that Christmas is about.
