Christmas Traditions

Merry Christmas, dear readers! Today, you are invited to have a seat at my table inspired by Christmas traditions. It warms my heart that you are able to join me for some Christmas cheer. I know it has been quite a while since I posted, and I am excited to share my Christmas table and dining room decorated for this special holiday season. This is always my most favorite time of the year!

You are in for an extra special treat as my sweet friend, Rita, at Panoply is hosting several table stylists sharing their beautiful Christmas tables. We appreciate all that she does to bring us together, and the links to the festive tables can be found at the end of this post.

Long time readers may notice that a few changes have been made to the dining room. Last summer, we purchased a new dining table. I adore the English Chippendale style of furniture and have longed to find a dining table styled in this tradition. On a weekend trip to Oklahoma City, Mr. Bleu and I visited one of our favorite consignment shops, and there she was in mint condition! As you may have already guessed, the domino effect started. With the new table, I needed new curtains and a coordinating fabric for the chair seats followed by a new rug to tie everything together. I found my fabrics and rug at Nell Hills. They made the curtains for me as well.

My Christmas table is set in a traditional holiday style with red and green being the primary color palette.

The placemats are a Christmas toile pattern by Maison d’Hermine. For the plate stack, I chose gold beaded chargers, Mikasa English Countryside plates, and Christmas tree salad plates by the Pioneer Woman. Each stack is topped with a scalloped white napkin tied with Christmas greenery and a red velvet bow.

“God never gives someone a gift they are not capable of receiving. If He gives us the gift of Christmas, it is because we all have the ability to understand and receive it.”-Pope Francis

Mikasa Golden Tiara crystal goblets and Oneida Michelangelo flatware complete each setting. Both were from my bridal registry some thirty-one years ago. The Mikasa crystal pattern has since been retired.

“It’s not how much we give but how much we put into giving.”-Mother Teresa

“Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.”-Ruth Carter Stapleton

Some Christmas spirit was added to the little sideboard. Red berries, greenery, and festive decorations were added to the cabinet along with a lush wreath tied with a red bow.

A Crown Linen Design table runner provides a foundation for a simple centerpiece of Christmas greenery, red berries, and green flameless candles.

Flameless candles are one of my favorite winter decor items. I love the warm glow they provide on dreary winter days.

“The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each other’s loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of the holidays.”-W.C. Jones

Flanking the ends of the table are red mercury glass jars that I have had for several years.

My dear friends, I am so happy and grateful that you joined me today. It was such an honor to host you around my table set in the tradition of Christmas. A table that hopefully reflects love, hope, faith, and joy.

I will be back soon to share more of my Christmas decorations.
