Welcoming Summer with an Outdoor Tablescape

Good morning, my dear friends! I am so excited to be back with my tablescaping friends to bring you our summer tables. Our new leader is the sweet Rita from Panoply. Rita has such a beautiful collection of antique treasures, and l truly appreciate her being our hostess. We are all kindred spirits in our love of setting a pretty table, and we are so happy to be back together again. A list of the participants and links to their tables are at the bottom of this post.

Please, come and join me outside in the warm sunshine for some peach tea and a little “table talk” to welcome summer.

Peach tea is a favorite summer treat of mine. I may have had a few glasses while I was working on this table. The heat and humidity was terrible! We had a very unseasonably cool spring, but June is starting off with a vengeance. Daily temperatures have been in the mid 90s with high humidity. However, I love summer and will take this over the cloudy winter time any day of the week. Sunshine just makes you feel so much better! I cannot tell a lie though, I am forever grateful for air conditioning.

During a recent trip to the grocery store, I spied that the floral department was filled with oodles and oodles of glorious sunflowers. A bouquet just had to come home with me! They make the perfect simple centerpiece in my green French confit pot lending a French Country theme to the tablescape. A lemon tablecloth makes a cheerful statement to the table along with the pretty green checked napkins from Amy Montgomery Home. Green straw placemats serve as a wonderful accent and perfect backdrop to my Grandmother’s china. Last week, I purchased new everyday flatware, and you will see that I used them on my table. They are Luxe by Wallace, and I love them. Each piece in the place setting is different and is a replica of an earlier antique piece from their collection. Even though each piece is different, they all blend beautifully together.

You just can’t help but smile when you see pretty, bright, yellow sunflowers. I do believe that they are one of the most cheerful flowers around.

My sweet friends, I am so happy that you stopped by for tea and a little “table talk.” Your visits always bring sunshine to my day. I could probably go on for hours about tablescaping! Thank you for your gracious comments. Please be sure to visit my other friends on the tour. Have a most happy and blessed day!!!

  22. Shannon, what a lovely summer table! I always enjoy your outdoor tables, as you have such a lovely backdrop! Your sunflower centerpiece certainly is stunning! It will be a while before we can get them here. Our weather as been the same as yours, and the humidity is about ready to make me melt! Those soft green gingham napkins are so pretty, and I love how you mixed the patterns with the beautiful bright bold tablecloth, the gingham napkins and the pretty floral patterned plates! Happy summer to you 🙂

  23. Sweet Shannon, I always love your tables and this is no different. Love the tablecloth, you have so many pretty ones. Your centerpiece with sunflowers is amazing. June was very humid here in NJ too. This is why I have a love hate relationship with this time of year.

    Pinned!

Shannon, your sunny, lovely tablescape speaks summer and relaxation. Even here in southeastern PA, we began the summer season with unusually hot, humid days. Happy (hopefully cooler) summer days, sweetie!

  25. Good afternoon, Shannon. Your table is lovely and is so inviting for a nice summer lunch or supper. It has been quite warm here as well. However, today there is not an ounce of humidity in the air and our temps are in the mid 70's. Also, love your confit pot, I am partial to the green.
Happy summer days, sweet friend. Stay cool!

  26. This is like stepping into a farmhouse in Provence, Shannon! Your confit pot full of sunflowers, and your casual flair of mixing the lemon tablecloth with blue & white dishes is very French Country. Yes, I will gladly sip on peach tea and enjoy the shade a while! The Luxe flatware is an awesome way to mix and match the classic patterns. I'm sure it will be a staple in your tablescaping future. Thank you for joining the summer tablescape fun. Happy Summer!

  27. Shanon, what.a charming and inviting summer table. You had me hooked at peach tea! It sounds delicious; do you have the recipe posted? I love how you incorporated your grandmother’s pretty dishes too. Oh and how unique and lovely is your new flatware? I hadn’t seen the pattern before. What a find that looks great with your vintage china.

  28. Oh Shannon I would have come home with those sunflowers too! Such a beautiful centerpiece they are!
I can sip tea with you at you lovely table all day. I feel like I am in the South of France. Your grandmother’s China mixed with your new flatware makes it all quite special.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely tablescape! Happy Summer to you my friend!

  29. Shannon, peach tea and sunflowers are two of my favorite things. It has been hot and humid in Wisconsin too. It does make it harder to enjoy the outside, but, like you, I love the summer season. What a lovely tablescape in an beautiful outdoor setting. I love how the sunlight casts a lovely shade over the table. The lemons and soft color plates provide so much tranquility to the table. I can most definitely enjoy some ladies table talk with iced peach tea anytime at this table. Have a wonderful and relaxing summer. It is a pleasure to hop with you.

  30. Shannon, I know exactly what you mean about the heat and humidity. It came to Texas with a vengeance. We need that peach tea!! Your sunflowers are beautiful. A friend gave me a bouquet last week and I really enjoyed them. I love how you used your confit pot as part of your centerpiece. I have two, but I’ve never thought to use them in a centerpiece. Thanks for the idea. I love how you combined the different shades of green in your placemats, tablecloth and checked napkins. Stay cool, friend.

  31. Shannon, what a gorgeous table setting! To sit there and drink a cool glass of your tea surely would be heavenly! Your centerpiece with the sunflowers is so beautiful, just like everything you do. Thank you so much for a delightful treat, so pretty! I wish you a lovely and blessed week, friend. xo Lidy
