A Traditional Thanksgiving Table

Happy first day of November, sweet friends! Can you believe that Thanksgiving is only 23 days away? Where has the time gone? Not to worry though… this week, you are sure to find lots of wonderful inspiration for your Thanksgiving tables. The sweet and talented Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate is hosting a Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop. At the end of this post, you will find a schedule of the participating bloggers. I know you will find some great ideas for your holiday tables.

This year I chose to create a traditional table. Thanksgiving is a very special time for me. It is when I gather with family and reflect on my many blessings. I have so much to be thankful for, and I am so grateful.

I chose to use a classic ivory lace tablecloth for my traditional table.

The centerpiece was simple to create. I purchased some flowers at my local grocery store and arranged them in a champagne bucket placed on a silver tray with pumpkins and gourds scattered about. I love that they add a pop of color to the tablescape.

Johnson Brothers Friendly Village was the china I chose for the placesettings. At my home, it is used often for both fall and winter gatherings.  Each setting was anchored by a scalloped gold charger plate and gold lace placemats. Mikasa Golden Tiara Crystal and Onieda Michelangelo Flatware finish each setting.

For a finishing touch, pumpkins were placed on top of each placesetting.

I am so happy that you stopped by to visit my Thanksgiving table. Be sure to check out the other blogger’s tables. I am sure you will find lots of wonderful inspiration for your holiday gatherings. Have a happy and blessed day, dear friends.

  5. Beautiful Shannon! I feel that Thanksgiving should be set in a traditional manner, with all the finery! We are hosting fewer and fewer formal events, and I miss them so. 11. Very pretty Shannon. I love how you have taken a simple grocery store bouquet and made it really spectacular by arranging it in the ice bucket. The way you have layered delicate gold place mats over the pretty lace tablecloth is very subtle but looks perfect against the place settings. I can imagine your family will thoroughly enjoy a meal around this table!

  18. Just beautiful Shannon! Your lace tablecloth provides a lovely foundation for your Thanksgiving table and I love seeing the overhead shots and photos of your beautifully appointed dining room. I have four Johnson Brothers Friendly Village dinner plates and they are among my favorites to use through the fall and winter months. 20. Shannon, Your table is so pretty. I love the Johnson Brothers Friendly Village pattern. I immediately thought of the song, “Over the river and through the Woods” which has such nostalgia for me and I love the scalloped gold charger. The lacy gold placemats compliment the flowers and I do love fresh flowers.
Your lace tablecloth anchors all your elements beautifully.

  21. Beautiful take on a traditional Thanksgiving tablescape! The first things to catch my eye were those fantastic pumpkins in the bowls – the colour and size of them are perfect and they add so much interest to your table. Secondly, I’m in love with those scalloped edged chargers – they lend a touch of elegance to the place settings along with the lovely china, gold placemats and pretty stemware. Your flatware is terrific as well. Would love to sit and dine at your wonderful table!

  26. I love traditional tablescapes, and I can see you put a lot into yours. I really like the addition of small cabbage heads to the floral centerpiece. That is a great way to turn an “ordinary” bouquet of flowers into something above and beyond! I really like the orange lumbar pillows on the chairs on the sides of the buffet. That extension of color from the table across the room really pulls everything together! And your decorative plate arrangement…l-o-v-e!!! I’m trying to get brave enough to do that in our dining room, but I’m not there just yet. I guess I’ve just not found “the” right plates for such a project as yet. Happy November!!

  27. So beautiful Shannon! Love that fresh centerpiece in the silver vase. The lace tablecloth is fabulous too. The plates coordinate so we’ll too! Gorgeous traditional Thanksgiving!!

  28. Rattlebridge Farm

Your flowers are so pretty in the silver champagne bucket. I hadn’t stopped to count the days until the holiday, and you’re right— it’s almost here. Loved playing with you again!
