In Loving Memory

Good morning, dear readers. Today, I have a very special tablescape to share with you. I’m sorry that I have not posted in a couple weeks. My family and I have suffered a tremendous loss….the passing of my beloved grandmother. She was the matriarch, guiding light, and comforting soul to our family. My grandmother carried an extraordinary amount of grace and was always there to lend a helping hand if needed.  You always felt warm and welcome in her presence. She was the epitome of the perfect hostess.

I must admit that I won the lottery when it came to grandparents. They were such loving and caring people. As a child growing up, my grandparents made a point to visit me every day and took their role as grandparents with great pride. My children were fortunate to have a close relationship with their great grandmother, and she in turn would often say how blessed she was to be able to see them grow. Their hearts are as heavy as mine.

I have many fond memories of shopping with my mom and grandmother for prom dresses and eventually my wedding dress. We all three gasped and knew when we found the perfect dress. My mom and grandmother relished in helping me plan my wedding, and that memory is one of many that I will always treasure. The picture below was taken over twenty-five years ago with my grandparents on my wedding day.

As I mentioned above, my grandmother was the ultimate hostess. Therefore, I feel that the most appropriate way for me to pay tribute to her is to create a tablescape with her wedding china in her dining room. I hope you will join me at my grandmother’s beautiful table. I know that she would welcome you with open arms and a bright smile.

My grandmother loved classic, traditional style. As I look around her house, I can see where my mother and I inherited our love of decorating.

She adored pink…therefore, I saw it only fitting to adorn her table with pretty pink roses.

These beautiful plates are Rosebud Chintz by Spode. The pattern was retired several years ago.

Lovely pink stemware rounds out each setting.

Adding to the centerpiece are these beautiful crystal and gold candlestick holders. They have set on my grandmother’s dining table ever since I can remember.

Thank you, my dear readers, for allowing me to pay tribute to someone who was so good to me and was such a strong presence throughout my life….my sweet grandmother. My heart is heavy, but it is full of love and precious, wonderful memories. I know I was truly blessed by her love and that heaven gained a truly special angel.
