Happenings and a Pretty Spring Table

Good morning, sweet friends! I am so sorry that I have been absent from blogging the past couple of weeks. My world has been a little out of sorts. Most of the upheaval has been due to some exciting news…we are getting a new kitchen!!! I am as anxious as a little girl waiting on Santa to arrive. Last week, they came to demo our existing kitchen. However, as luck would have it, while I was packing the contents of my kitchen, I came down with a terrible infection. I have not been that sick in a long time. In fact, I am hardly ever sick. So, it really threw me for a loop! Poor Mr. Bleu had to step in and finish packing all of my dishes. We have kitchen wares and dishes in the living room, master bedroom, sunroom, and dining room. It is a crazy mess! I know that it will be worth it in the long run, and I am super excited. I have never planned a kitchen from the ground up, and I can’t wait to share everything with you.

For today, I am showing you a spring table that I recently created. It was inspired by a recent purchase of some pretty dishes from the Pioneer Woman collection. I know I made a promise after we moved to never buy another dish, but I just couldn’t help myself! These dishes have such wonderful color and remind me of something from long ago. They just make me happy, and are the perfect pick me up to the awful spring weather we have been having in Oklahoma. I don’t think winter wants to leave!!!

Simple flowers from the grocery store create colorful centerpieces to compliment the placesettings

Each setting consist of a plate stack from the Pioneer Woman’s new spring collection. As I stated before, I adore the pretty vintage floral pattern. Simple Mason Jars serve as drinking glasses, and each placesetting is topped off with a bright yellow napkin tied with a lovely floral napkin ring.

It can be very difficult to find enough plates at Walmart to complete your collection. I would find four dinner plates at one store and three at another. After visiting three different stores, I was able to find twelve dinner and twelve salad plates.   Mr. Bleu reminded me all along the way of the promise I had broken.  I guess I should have never made a promise that I knew I couldn’t keep.

Thank you so much for your visits and kind comments. I will be back soon to share all of my exciting kitchen progress. Today, they are going to start installing the cabinets and should be finished by Friday. Next week, the granite and backsplash will go in. Then, the following week our new flooring will be installed.  Right now, our kitchen is completely empty, and we are making do with a coffee pot, toaster, and refrigerator. It won’t be long though, and we will be eating home cooked meals again. I hope that you all have a beautiful and blessed day!!!

  1. Shannon, I am so glad you are feeling better. How exciting to be getting a new kitchen. I lived through a kitchen reno several years ago, it was worth the pain! 3. I was thinking about you this very morning. So sorry you have been sick but glad you are better.
How exciting to be getting a new kitchen. I know it will be wonderful.
Your table is exceptional. Pioneer Woman needs to use your photos for ads. I love the colors and your flower arrangements are so striking.

  4. Hi, Shannon: I love your tablescape. I have a 2 candelabras like yours. When I was a very young child, my family lived in France. My Mom has so many wonderful pieces that she picked up at markets. The candelabras she gave me have a lovely antique clock that goes with them. The story goes that these pieces came out of a castle. Who knows what was lost in translation 🙂 I was thinking about you this week wondering what was happening in your world since I had not seen a post lately. So glad you are feeling better and bonus — getting a new kitchen.

    • Hi Carolyn, I am so sorry that I am late replying to your very sweet comment. Things have been a mess with the kitchen remodel. How wonderful it must have been to live in France! I have never been there, but it is my dream to see it one day. What a special story to go with your treasures. I have a weakness for antique clocks, and I am picturing how beautiful your set must be! Have a wonderful week, sweet friend!!!

  5. Dear Shannon: So sorry to read that you were sick and so glad you are feeling much better. How exciting about your kitchen, it will be great to see what you have done. We lived through our kitchen re-do a few years ago. It was so worth every bit of dust and confusion.

Your tablescape is lovely and your new dishes are too. So glad to know someone else has an incredible weakness for lovely china and dishes.
    Have a great weekend !

    • Thank you, Sandra, for the very sweet words! We are moving right along with the kitchen reno, but I am so anxious for things to get back to normal. I know all the inconvenience will be worth it! Enjoy your week, sweet friend!!!

  8. A new kitchen – how exciting!! Love the flowers on your beautiful spring table.

  9. How exciting to be getting a new kitchen! I hope the sinus infection is better. I had one too and it seemed to drag on. Winter has been hanging on here too but we’ve made the turn towards warmer weather – finally! Your table is so cheerful. Love all the colors. The PW dishes are quite the tease. I bought some of her stemware in the same color as your glasses last year. Very nice quality for the price charged. That’s funny about your breaking your promise- but I totally understand. It is safer to not make those promises! Have a great week- hope to see pictures soon of your new kitchen!
