A Table for Sweethearts

A Table for Sweethearts

Happy February, dear friends! I hope that you are staying healthy and warm during these cold days of winter. Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is almost upon us? Today, I am once again joining my talented tablescaping friends. We are showcasing our tables all decked out for that special day that we celebrate our loved ones whether they are a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, neighbor, or a close friend. It’s just a special time to remember those dear to us with a pretty card, baked treat, or some other little token to show our love.

Growing up, on Valentine’s Day, I always received some special little treat from both my parents and grandparents. It is a tradition that I still carry on each year with my children. They always look forward to it with anticipation. It seems to be a perfect pick me up during those dreary winter days.

Many thanks goes out to our fearless leader, Chloe, at Celebrate and Decorate for organizing these wonderful tablescaping tours. You will find a list and links to all of the participants at the end of this post.

On Valentines Day, I always set a special table for my husband and children.

You will find traditional Valentine’s Day colors of pinks and reds displayed throughout the table.

This year, I had quite a challenge locating pretty flowers for the centerpiece. First, I went to Trader Joes. The selection was sparse, and all I could find was red carnations, white calla lilies, and greenery. Next, I stopped at my local grocery store, and I was once again disappointed in the selection. However, I was able to find a single dozen of light pink roses. I was so happy as I knew that this would give me something to work with. For the container, I chose a red ginger jar and placed it upon a mirrored tray with pretties scattered at the base.

For the place settings, I chose gold lace placemats, pink charger plates, and my Grandmother’s Spode Rosebud Chintz china. Her pink goblets and Fostoria champagne glasses compliment the plates perfectly. Pink napkins with pearl napkin rings complete each setting.

A lace table runner runs the center of the table, and sweet treats and candles flank the centerpiece. A trip to Trader Joes always yields boxes of macarons, and I was thrilled with excitement when I found these sweet heart shaped ones. I also must confess, after photographing this table, the macarons and candy were enjoyed by all.

My sweet friends, I want to thank you for your visits and kind comments. I hope that you all have a most beautiful and blessed day!
