A Day for Love

Good morning, dear readers! I hope that this new year finds you healthy and full of blessings. One of the most important blessings that I am always grateful for is love. The love that has been given to me by the good Lord above, my husband, parents, grandparents, and children throughout my life has shaped me into the person that I am today. My heart is truly full to the brim with gratitude.

“A loving heart is the truest wisdom.” Charles Dickens

In a little over two weeks, we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day. A day set aside for honoring all things pertaining to love. On this cold winter’s day, I am so happy and blessed to once again be joining my tablescaping friends to bring you our Valentine’s Day tables. Our hostess is my sweet friend Rita of Panoply, and links to all of the beautiful tables can be found at the end of this post.

For my Valentine’s Day table, I chose to go with a traditional red color palette. I adore red and lots of color! It just brightens up a gloomy winter’s day.

Pink roses along with hot pink and white carnations arranged in a red urn create a simple and colorful centerpiece.

Anchoring the centerpiece is a linen runner by Crown Linen Designs. Along with the centerpiece, red and pink candles are scattered throughout the center of the table. The candles are accompanied by antique vases filled with additional carnations.

Red ruffled placemats provide a festive backdrop to the Haviland Moss Rose china.

Godinger Dublin goblets, Oneida Michelangelo flatware, and red napkins with pearl napkin rings complete each place setting.

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy,

it does not boast,

it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others,

it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil

but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects,

always trusts, always hopes,

always preserves.

Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Corinthians 13:13

  23. Shannon, your table is stunning. I do agree the beauty of red on a cold winter day really adds joy and energy to the day. Your choice of flowers in your pretty red vases and your lovely placemats that contrasts beautifully with your floral plate stack is cozy and inviting, especially accompanying the lace edge napkins which add so much elegance to the table. The entire tablescape stands out against the beauty of the collection of blue plates on your cupboard. So refined and very much a classic. So I would say….let it snow. I would sit and enjoy this beautiful table for the remainder of the day. Happy Valentine's Day.

  24. Beautiful tablescape. Happy Valentine's Day to you~
    Hugs., Rachelle

  25. Oh, Shannon. Your table really does invoke a feeling of love and romance. I love that you have combined hot pink with red and white in your florals. It makes for a striking display. Your ruffled place mats are the perfect backdrop to the delicate floral plates. The candles in different shades of pink add to the romantic ambiance. Such a beautiful tribute to love!

  26. Your Valentine's table is lovely, and will indeed brighten any winter's day. The ruffled placemats, lace-edged napkins and pearl napkin rings bring a feminine touch, while the bold reds counter the sweetness of the dishes. The flowers in the centerpiece are beautiful and I was particularly taken by the interesting vase that they're in. Flanking the vase with the smaller ones carries the impact of the flowers down the length of the table. Happy Valentine's Day!

  27. Absolutely beautiful table setting!
