Why I Have Been Gone For So Long

Dear readers, I have missed you so much! When I explain what has been going on, I hope you will understand my absence.  Since our last visit, there have been a lot of changes. So many, I don’t even know where to start. Therefore, I guess I will just dig in.

During my last post, I told you I would be having surgery. What I didn’t tell you was that our home was for sale. Last year, my oldest son was sick and had to move back in with us. As hard as we tried to make everything work,  our home just wasn’t large enough to accommodate our family. So with a heavy heart, lots of prayers, and many lengthy discussions the decision was made to put our house on the market. Little did we know, everything would happen so fast.

To our surprise, our home sold within nine days! The buyers also requested a quick closing. I was in total shock! As soon as we went under contract, I started packing like a crazy woman. I had only a week and a half to pack before my scheduled surgery, and I honestly didn’t know how we were going to make everything work. My recovery would be eight weeks, and I wouldn’t be allowed to lift or do heavy housework. Luckily, Mr. Bleu agreed to hire movers, and it was worth every penny. Two weeks post surgery, we moved into our new home. I am happy to report, that I am feeling much better, and my family is thrilled with our new home.

Please, come in for a look around.

This wall is in the foyer to the left. I have decorated it very similar to the entry wall in our former home.

Upon entering, if you look straight ahead, you will find this wall below the staircase. It is the perfect spot for my French buffet and antique mirror.

I adore magnolias and think they are the perfect summer flower.

Next, on the tour, is the formal living space. It is a room full of lots of wonderful, natural light.

On the coffee table, I created a simple vignette upon a gold tray.

This pair of wingback chairs are some of my most favorite chairs. They are over twenty years old and were previously covered in green fabric.

I am really pleased with how they turned out.

In addition to blue and white chinoiserie, I have also been collecting Imari. Many pieces can be found displayed throughout the room.  I love the way the two compliment each other.

In this corner of the room, I repurposed the armoire from my previous master bedroom.

It is just the perfect thing to conceal the television.

This area was the perfect spot for my antique Italian barometer. You may notice something new…the cow lamp. It was a gift from my sweet Mr. Bleu.

In a previous picture you may have also spotted Mr. Faudree’s pastry table and lamp. I am overjoyed to tell you, I found the perfect place for it in our new home.

This vignette is on the wall of windows on the south side of the room.

A new addition to this room is the antique French chair. It is a Charles Faudree chair that I spotted in a shop in Tulsa. I wanted it so bad and knew that it would be perfect for this room. As an early birthday present, my sweet parents and Mr. Bleu gifted it to me.

There is so much more to share with you, but I feel that I have kept you long enough. I have missed you so much and promise to be back with more room tours.

To all of my dear readers and sweet blogging friends, the thoughtful messages of concern that you sent me met so much and truly touched my heart. I am beyond blessed by your kindness.

Enjoy your day, dear friends!!!

  11. So glad you are doing well and hope your son is also. Your home is beautiful! I adore your front door and sidelights! We are building soon and I am planning to have sidelights and a transom. I’m curious about the sidelight glass, is it clear or some kind of privacy glass? I like the idea of the light coming in but not strangers at the door being able to see in.

    • Hi Vicki, the side lights are not covered. We live in the country so privacy is not an issue, but I do understand your concern. At a previous home, we had side lights, and I had plantation shutters installed for privacy. I also know that you can by frosted side lights, too. Thank you for your sweet comment. Take care, and enjoy your week!!!
