Updating the Foyer

Good morning, sweet readers! I hope that your holidays were filled with lots of happiness and that your new year is off to a wonderful start. Since the holidays, I have taken a little break from blogging to enjoy time with family and get my house back in order. It feels so wonderful to have things clean and organized.

Taking down the Christmas decorations always inspires me to rethink indoor spaces and decor. One area I have really been wanting to improve upon is the foyer. This is such an important space because it it the first impression of your home. It should reflect how the rest of your home is decorated. My foyer is rather dark and was in need of some color. You know how I adore pops of color especially red and blue!

This print was given to me by my mother and was the inspiration for my vignette and color palette. It wasn’t quite big enough for the space. Plates lended the perfect hand in expanding the display.

A Country French runner, potted orchid, Staffordshire dogs, and a candle come together to create a cohesive look.

The colors in the display tie back to this wall in the foyer that is to the side of the front door.

A plant stand, plant, and statue flank the other side of the staircase.

The next item on my list to tackle was the wall leading up the staircase. It has been vacant since we moved in. I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do. A gallery wall would be nice, but right now it would be quite pricey as I would have to purchase several pieces of art to create a display. Therefore,  a trip to Hobby Lobby yielded these framed iron pieces. They were originally framed in a distressed white paint that didn’t really go with my decor. I simply painted them a blue and distressed them with a copper color. I had the plate stand and plates on hand to complete the look. It was a really economical way to decorate the staircase.

This corner is opposite the staircase. The pastry table comes in quite handy as a dessert buffet when entertaining guests.

The rabbit pictures are a new addition and belonged to my grandmother. She loved rabbits!

Thank you for your visits, dear friends! I’m so happy that you stopped by!  hope you will come back tomorrow, because I am joining several of my blogging friends to bring you our cozy winter home tours. Have a most happy and blessed day!!!
