A Traditional Christmas Living Room Tour

Good morning, dear friends! I can’t believe the Christmas season is already upon us. Today, I am so excited to give you a tour of my living room dressed in traditional Christmas attire . Won’t you come in out of that terrible cold, and join me for a cup of tea?

This season plaid is trending in both home decor and fashion. This makes me so happy as I adore plaid. With my Scottish ancestry, I guess it just runs through my veins. You will find lots of pretty plaid ribbon throughout my house. I have tied so many bows that I have lost count. If anything sits still long enough, it is subject to have a bow placed upon it.

You may spy a Scottish Santa residing on my coffee table.

I purchased this Santa for my Grandfather as a Christmas gift several years ago. His grandparents emigrated to this country from Scotland, and he was proud of his Scottish heritage.

A magnolia garland tied with plaid ribbon dresses the mantel with a festive touch. My grandparent’s nativity now resides in my home, and it looks perfect on the mantel.

To add holiday touches to my existing vignettes, I simply added a poinsettia, Christmas greens, and glass ornaments.

Sweet friends, I am so happy that you stopped by for a visit. It makes my day! I have so much more holiday decor to show you. Tomorrow, I will be joining several of my blogging friends to bring you our holiday porches. In the coming weeks, I have more Christmas decor, tablescapes, and maybe a recipe or two to share with you. For now, take care, and have a most happy day!

  5. Pretty. Love holiday decor! Do you think the Santa is still for sale anywhere? We also have scottish roots (last name Stuart 🙂 ) so would be a fun addition here, thanks!

    • Hi Jillian, thank you for your sweet comment! You won’t believe this, but Stuart was my mother’s maiden name. I can’t find a Santa like mine, but I did a search online and found a really cute one at Belk. It is called Santa’s Workshop Scottish Santa. I’m so happy that you stopped by for a visit! Take care, and happy December!

  6. Oh Shannon, your living room looks stunning! I love your style and the way you can make it look seasonal with your special touches here and there! I love your magnolia garland and how special to have your grandparents nativity. My family insists on a real tree every year which means we can’t put it up too early, oh how I wish I could have a faux tree and put it up right after Thanksgiving! I know you will enjoy this beautiful room all month long!

    • Thank you, Jenna! Oh how I wish for a live tree, but I’m terribly allergic. There is nothing better than the smell of fresh Christmas greens! I hope your December is filled with lots of joy and blessings!

  13. it looks very pretty in here. It looks quite New England-ish. The room has managed to be traditional and welcoming. It doesn’t look to stuffy or uncomfortable. I really like the red chairs with the blue touches.
