The Joy of Autumn

Happy Monday Morning Blooms dear readers! I hope that you are relaxing and enjoying this long holiday weekend. Today, I am so thrilled to be joining my flower loving friends, Pam at Everyday Living, Mary at Home is Where the Boat Is, and Lidy at the French Garden House to bring you our floral creations. On the first Monday of the month, my talented friends share their love of flowers. I am always excited when they invite me to be a guest bloomer. Links to their beautiful floral arrangements can be found at the end of this post.

The theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is autumn. We are expecting a bit of a cool down this week with temperatures expected to be in the upper 80s. This wonderful news has me giddy with excitement for autumn’s arrival! To celebrate, I decided to set my table outdoors in the bright sunshine.

We have a local flower farm nearby, and I was able to pick my own flowers for my bouquet. I chose zinnias in an array of colors, quail grass, amaranth, and eucalyptus. A rattan vase was the perfect vessel for my arrangement.

An April Cornell tablecloth and napkins was a recent HomeGoods find. Its color palette is perfect for an autumn themed table, and it paired beautifully with my French placemats.

“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons”-Jim Bishop

The Haviland Jewel teacups were also a recent find, and I adore their delicate floral pattern.

For the plate stack, I chose Spode Blue Italian plates and paired them with Johnson Brothers Devon Cottage plates mixed in various colors of rust and green. The colorful plates were a bonus that my mom received when she purchased the traditional blue and white Devon Cottage china. The flatware is Hotel Lux by Wallace, and the glassware is Golden Tiara by Mikasa. The glassware was part of my bridal registry and has been retired.

“If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour”-Victoria Erickson

An Arthur Woods Imari styled teapot perched on some antique books sits on one side of the floral arrangement.

A Fitz and Floyd pumpkin resides on the other side of the bouquet.

“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree”-Emily Bronte

“There are two times of the year: autumn and waiting for autumn”-Unknown

“As long as autumn lasts, I shall not have hands, canvas and colours enough to paint the beautiful things I see”-Vincent Van Gogh

Your new-to-you Haviland Jewel teacups are beauties! Your table is so vibrant and your setting looks so lush and cool! I’ve never seen that coloration in Johnson Brothers Devon Cottage plates, perfect for autumn to pair with your pumpkin and beautiful teapot! Thanks so much for joining us today. 3. Good morning, Shannon! I love your beautiful alfresco table. Colorful zinnias, quail grass, amaranth, and eucalyptus combine for a perfect centerpiece to announce autumn. I love amaranth and need to try my hand at growing next year. The AC tablecloth was a great find at Home Goods and it does pair very well with the French placemats. The Haviland Jewel teacups are another gorgeous find. Their floral pattern is charming. I don’t remember seeing the JB Devon Cottage plates before, they are perfect with the Spode Blue Italian. That is a darling Fitz and Floyd pumpkin. I have to start pulling out the bins of my fall decor.

It is always a pleasure to have you join us for Monday Morning Blooms, sweet friend. Wishing you a Happy September and Labor Day!!

  4. Beautiful 'you pick' florals for your joy of autumn setting, Shannon! And you're right, that rattan vessel is also a perfect choice. What a score in finding the AC textiles at HomeGoods! They're gorgeous. Blue against the complementary orange is a favorite fall color combo for me (anytime, really). Your mix of flatware with dish settings really amps up the expected look of what we'll see in nature come a few short weeks, if not already in some regions. Happy September!

  5. A beautiful table Shannon with a gorgeous backdrop. Your zinnias are so vibrant and colorful and look fabulous in your chosen rattan vase. That AC tablecloth is quite stunning with its rich colors. The plate stack is lovely and compliments everything. The Haviland Jewel teacups are so pretty. Always a pleasure visiting. Happy Labor Day.

  6. Your patio table is gorgeous Shannon! I love the new AC tablecloth and the placemats you paired with it, so pretty! Your flower arrangement is beautiful too and the cute F&F pumpkin is the perfect touch of Autumn. Blue and orange is a wonderful color palette for fall. Your plate stacks topped with the delicate tea cups look lovely as does the teapot on the book stack. What a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal as the temps get cooler!

  7. Shannon, what a delightful and beautiful table you have set! Those zinnias are such gorgeous colors, and that is one of my very favorite vases! Your colorful mix of textiles and dish designs are so well combined, they are so well matched, your table certainly sparks the imagination. It would be dreamy to sit at your table on your patio, thinking of cool days and pumpkin spice everything.
