Summer Dining Room

Good morning, dear friends! It is my wish that this post finds you well and enjoying your day. Can you believe that summer is less than two weeks away? Although, technically the season hasn’t started yet, it definitely feels like summertime in my neck of the woods. The cicadas have started their summer song, and our temperatures felt more like July this past weekend with highs reaching 96 degrees and high humidity. Today, I want to invite you into the cool air conditioning to take a look around my dining room for the summer season.

I’ve kept the table centerpiece simple.

I love orchids, but I don’t have a very good track record with keeping them alive. Therefore, I opted to place two faux potted ones in my footbath and cover the base of the potted flowers with green moss. Today, it is amazing how many beautiful faux flowers and plants are on the market.

With as much time as we have been spending at home, I am constantly thinking of how to add decor and improve areas of my home. I recently tweaked this little corner by adding some art, iron, and a blue and white ginger jar perched upon a plant stand. By shopping my storage closet and attic, it was no cost decorating.

My grandmother’s Spode china is lovingly displayed in the antique china cabinet.

Sweet friends, I am so happy that you stopped by for a visit! I hope you enjoy your day! Take care!!!

  5. Good morning, dear Shannon. Your dining room in beautiful and elegant. The orchid is lovely and I, too, have trouble with keeping real ones alive. I do love your grandmother's china and it is quite at home in the antique china cabinet.
Wishing you a lovely week, stay well and cool. We are to have in the upper 90's here in the mountains as well.

    • Thank you so much, Sandra, for your very kind words! I guess we are both experiencing summertime temperatures. We have had a crazy turn of events here with very high winds and lower temperatures. I'm sure warmer weather will be back by the end of the week. I hope you are having a beautiful week, sweet friend!

  6. As I tell you all the time, your home is always picture perfect and should be in a magazine! I would have never guessed the orchids were faux, they look beautiful in the lovely footbath. I learned that orchids don't like too much water, in case that helps you in the future. I always love seeing your beautiful china displayed on the shelves of your sideboard, so pretty!

    • Jenna, you always say the sweetest things. Thank you so much for the very kind words! Thanks for the orchid tip. I may try my hand at it again. I hope you are enjoying your week!

  7. Shannon, Your dining room is so elegant. It is wonderful that your grandmother loved dishes as much as you do and that you treasure her lovely things. They look so pretty in your cabinets.
I can keep orchids alive but they won't rebloom for me. I can't even keep a pothos pretty on my sideboard because my room does not have enough light. Your faux ones look very real. I need to look for some good ones. I would need two for my footbath.
It is extremely humid here today. Summer has come even though the calendar says otherwise.
It is fun to shop the house and enjoy changing things up. You did a great job.

    • Thank you, Bonnie! If you are looking for faux orchids, I found mine on QVC. The are by Valerie Parr Hill. I put two potted ones in my footbath and just covered them with moss. I hope you are enjoying your week! Take care!

  8. Absolutely gorgeous. Loved it all.

Beautiful room, Shannon! Your faux orchids look very natural. There is a great company called "Real Touch" that has amazingly real looking and feeling flowers, if you'd like to check them out as well. I could move right in to your home; every time I look at your rooms, it just feels like I'm wrapped in coziness. Hugs!

    • Hi Bobbi, thank you so much for sharing that with me. I am going to be sure and check them out. I'm always on the look out for realistic faux flowers. It is not always easy for me to acquire fresh ones. I hope you are having a beautiful week. Take care, sweet friend!
