New Flooring, Updates to the Master Bedroom, and an Important Decorating Tip

Good morning, friends! I hope that you are having a wonderful start to the New Year. For me, the start of the New Year has been a little hectic. Mr. Bleu and I decided to have new flooring installed in the bedrooms. It is the final stage of having the floors replaced in our home. Although I am now enjoying the look of the new flooring, it was not an easy task. Contractors didn’t show up as planned which delayed the project. I am the type of person who likes things organized and in their place.  My house was a terrible mess! All of the room’s contents were piled into the living areas of our house. Because tile had to be removed from the master bedroom, the dust from the project was unbelievable.  Unfortunately, contractors are not always considerate of your belongings.  Needless to say, it has taken me about two weeks to get everything back in order. In addition to getting things put back their proper place, I also had to put all my Christmas decorations away.

Today, I will show you the new look of the master bedroom flooring along with a few decor changes. For some reason, after Christmas, I am in full on nesting mode. The changes I made in the room also inspired me to share a great decorating tip that pertains to consignment shopping.

I am really happy with the way the wood floors look in the master bedroom.

The sitting area of the room also got an update. My mother gave me this canvas print, and the colors really look pretty in the room.

I also found a treasure you may have noticed on the table, an antique French Tole Bouillotte Lamp. Lucky for me, I was in the right place at the right time. I saw it the minute I walked into a home furnishings consignment shop. When I inquired about the lamp, the store owner told me that someone had a French Country decorated home and was changing everything to a Modern theme. There were lots of gorgeous French Country furniture items scattered throughout the store. Unfortunately, I didn’t have room in my home for them.

Fresh tulips from the grocery store help to brighten a Winter’s day. The pitcher I placed them in is very old and was a graduation gift from a dear sweet lady I used to know. She had a beautiful collection of antique pieces. When I graduated from High School and when I got married she gifted me some really pretty pieces. They are very special to me.

While consignment shopping, I also found the harp table that worked perfectly as a bedside table.

I needed something not too massive, but tall enough to serve as the perfect bedside table. I found this little gem in great condition at a very good price.

Now for the important decorating tip… don’t be afraid to check out a home decor consignment shop. You can find beautiful treasures for your home at a great price.  Before you go, here are some important things to keep in mind:

  1.  Be a savvy shopper…know your prices. Do research and be aware of what things are worth. I have seen things in some  consignment shops that were way overly priced.
  2.  Don’t be afraid to ask for a better price. Sometimes, shop owners will discount a piece an additional 15 or 20 percent.
  3.  Go often.  The inventory in these shops is always changing.
  4.  If you find something you want to purchase, make sure you check it over thoroughly for imperfections. Sales are usually  final.

SeparatorNew things are on the horizon. In the coming weeks, I am excited to be revealing our master bath remodel. We have been working feverishly to get it completed. Also, toward the end of January, Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate is hosting a Romantic Tablescape Blog Hop to inspire your Valentine Tables.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. Your kindness and support has meant so much to me.  I hope that you have a happy, blessed, and healthy New Year!!!
