Late Summer Home Tour

Happy Tuesday, dear friends! Today, your are in for a real treat!  The sweet and talented Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home is hosting a transitional fall home tour featuring twenty homes. A list of the participants is at the end of this post.

I want to welcome those visiting from Poofing  the Pillows. Doesn’t Stacey have a gorgeous home? I have always admired her decorating style!

It is still summertime in Oklahoma, and I will do most of my fall decorating in mid September. Therefore, my tour is more of a late summer theme.  Grab a cup of coffee or tea, and I’ll give you the grand tour.

My home is a Country French style house, and I tend to decorate in more of a traditional French Country style. I love mixing antiques, sentimental pieces, and collections to create a warm and inviting home.  Also, it is no secret that I adore color! The picture below is of my foyer. For a transitional summer to fall look, I simply added white flowers and red apples to my collection of blue and white pieces.

The wall below is also in my foyer and houses a French Country bench with colorful pillows accented by a reproduction Monet print and blue and white plates.

Next, let’s step into the formal living area of the house.

For the transitional fall coffee table vignette, I chose to use additional red apples and dried lavender. The scent of the dried lavender is heavenly!

By now, you can probably tell that I adore blue and white. I have been collecting it for over 20 years. It is a classic and never goes out of style. Nothing adds more impact than grouping your collections together.

In addition to blue and white pieces, I also love to collect Imari. I think the two complement each other wondefully.

Plates are something that I often add to my decor. I think they are one of the greatest decorating tools that you can have on hand. They add a beautiful touch to any room and are great for expanding a piece of wall art that would otherwise be too small.

I am so happy that you stopped by today!  Now on to the next tour… Rosemary and Thyme, Janet has a beautiful home that I know you will enjoy touring. Also, all of the participants on the tour are listed below. Be sure to stop by for a visit.  Have a wonderful, blessed, and happy Tuesday dear friends!!!

  9. What an extensive collection of blue and white pottery you have! I love how it is displayed throughout your home, especially the plates on the walls. The warm red tones make your home welcoming for fall, with a cozy warm feeling!

  10. Thank you for sharing your lovely traditional decor—and yes, it really isn’t time for pumpkins yet, with most of the country burning up with fire or hot temperatures. Your cool blues are really a balm for the soul.

  11. I always enjoy tours of your French country house! I love the bench you have beneath the Monet. Also love the Monet, repro or not, still love it! Dried lavender and apples are a perfect way to transition the seasons!

  12. Your home is beautiful! I love all of your charming blue and white! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  13. I adore blue and white also. Love your Imari pieces, too. I have two Imari vases and a plate. I have an antique dealer friend that says,” Once you have several oriental rugs and pieces of china then they all go together.” I think she is right. They work with each other beautifully.
Adding red apples is a great fall touch. I’m ready for some fall temperatures!

    • Thank you, Bonnie! I think your friend is spot on! I have never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense. I’m like you too…I am ready for cooler temperatures. Enjoy your week, sweet friend!!!

  14. You have a lovely home, Shannon. Red apples speaks Fall and Welcome to me also. Your blue and white collection is displayed pretty. I have collected Imari pieces over the years also. Have a beautiful day.

  17. Shannon,
I always love visiting your French Country home with its beautiful bleu decor and French style furniture. Your style is timeless with perfect touches of red that go with so many seasons in the year, not just fall.

    Happy Fall,

    Judith

  20. Thanks for the tour, Shannon! Your home is beautiful, and so wonderfully styled! Fun to hop with you again!

  21. Shannon, your home is always so inviting. Being a Texan, I’m with you on celebrating the end of summer rather than moving quickly into fall. You already know how I adore your French Country style, and have to say your collections are stunning.

  22. Your home, your style and your color palette remind me so much of my sister’s home. I need to show her this post.

  23. Your home is lovely Shannon, and what a smart idea to have a big pot of lavender on display to give the room a wonderful scent!

  24. Shannon, I love all your blue and white touches! So charming! And I love how you incorporated natural elements like the apples and lavender into your late summer decor. So happy to be on the home tours with you!

  25. I love all of your rich fall colors and your home reminds me of a beautiful English cottage. Love! So happy to join you on this tour.

  26. Shannon, I love traditional styling. Your foyer looks great, and those shades evoke a sense of late summer, early fall along with your apples and flowers, too. In your living room, I absolutely adore that wall in front of the bookcase with the floral print fauteuil chair (the rooster lamp behind it, sigh!). The timeworn reds – whether in textiles, book covers – perfect for the transition. Very nice.

    • Thank you so much, Rita, for your very sweet words! I have tried to comment on your post, but I am not able to. Something must be off in the settings on my computer. I’m not too savvy with computer issues, but I will have my hubby look at it as soon as he gets time. I wanted to tell you that your sunroom looked so beautiful with your early fall touches. It was so much fun to be on this tour with you. Enjoy your week!!!

  27. Shannon your home is decorated in one of my first decor loves, traditional French Country, with what I feel has some cozy English cottage touches as well. I would just wander around and look at all your treasures, taking it all in! You have a beautifully curated home, yet it doesn’t seem stuffy, but instead cozy and welcoming.

It is fun for me to go back and look at everyone’s posts and realize the blogger’s I invite on these tours all represent facets of my own personal decor loves and bits of pieces of all these styles can be seen in my own home. I love lavender so much whether fresh or dried, in soap or as a seasoning! Dried lavender and apples…so lovely!

Thank you so much for joining this tour sweet friend! Looking forward to seeing more of your lovely home this fall and through the holidays!

    • Amber, thank you so much for your very sweet words, and for including me on these hops. This is such a kind and talented group of ladies. I have so much fun, and I am looking forward to the future hops. Enjoy your week, sweet friend!!!
