Final Chapter of the Kitchen Remodel…The Breakfast Area

Happy Tuesday, sweet friends! I hope that you are having a terrific week! The past two weeks, I have had several things to tend to so I wasn’t able to blog. Hopefully, things will continue to stay on track. Today, I’m closing out the kitchen remodel posts withe final chapter…the breakfast area.

As I have stated in previous posts, this is one large room with cathedral ceilings that houses a kitchen, breakfast area, and sunroom.

A pony wall was removed that separated the breakfast area and sunroom. Taking down the wall opened up the area and made the whole room seem so much larger.

Below, this window, was a window seat. The window seat just didn’t work because it sat up so much taller than it should have. Therefore, we added granite which created another serving space when entertaining guests. As an added bonus, it is a great spot to display pretties upon.

This French pastry table is on the wall opposite the window. Many of you already know the significance of the pastry table and rooster lamp pictured below. However, if you are new to my blog, the pastry table and lamp belonged to the late Mr. Charles Faudree. It was a birthday gift from my sweet husband. He traveled two hours before dawn so that he would be the first in line at Mr. Faudree’s Estate Sale. It is very special to me. I adored the talent of Charles Faudree, and his works inspire the way that I decorate my own home. In my eyes, his style was timeless and exemplifies beauty while creating a warm and inviting home.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I always appreciate your visits and sweet comments! May you have a most beautiful and blessed day dear friends!!!

  1. Shannon, I love this entire space. You have made it your own style reminiscent of Mr. Faudree’s classic country French style. The pastry table and lamp are treasured gifts and are perfect in your home. I am so happy for you. Blessings sweet friend!

  2. Shannon, you’ve created a warm and beautiful space to eat. Love you pastry table, such a treasure!!

Shannon, what a simply beautiful space! We’ll be downsizing in a few years (I mean, who needs 6 bedrooms when you’re an empty nester, right?), and I’d love to have a combination large kitchen and gathering room. You’re update made my heart sing. The addition of the red buffalo check blew the space out of the water. The added appeal of the polka dot napkins was a fabulous idea! I love your pastry table and lamp. I too was an admirer of Charles Faudree. I have all his books and never tire looking at them. He was a treasure. I was so saddened at the news of his passing. Thank you! Deena Salvatore

    • Deena, thank you for your very sweet words! I too never tire of studying Mr. Faudree’s books. He was a true talent! I am so happy that you stopped by for a visit! I hope that you enjoy the rest of your week!!!

  5. Oh so beautiful! Smart move with the window seat. I can’t stop looking at one simple spot…the tole trays with the little table underneath. That’s such a pretty vignette and I have a spot just like that. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. Shannon your room is beautiful. I love what you did with the window seat, your smart decision will serve you well for many years. How special it is to have Charles Faudree’s pastry table and lamp. I, too, think he was an amazing talent. I find myself often referring to his books and becoming lost in them.

Please tell me more about the brick tile floor…name of pattern, brand, where can it be purchased, etc.

    • I promise I didn’t forget your question. It took me a little while to located my receipt. The tile is by Marazzi USA and is called Urban District Downtown. We purchased the tile at Factory Tile in Tulsa, OK. I hope this helps, and that you have a wonderful week!

  12. Jeanne Mayo

Could you tell us how you hung your toile trays on the walls? Don’t see any plate holders on them.

    • Hi Jeanne, I hung the tole trays with wire plate hangers from Lowes. I have also seen them at Home Depot and Hobby Lobby. Some art shops also carry them. I hope this helps and that you are having a wonderful week!!!

  13. Lovely space and how wonderful your husband went to the estate sale of Mr. Faudree! How fortunate you were to get those item. Treasure them always.

  14. So glad Shannon, to see the final chapter of your kitchen reveal. I know what you mean about having things to attend to. I have been traveling and visiting family so not enough time to visit and comment.
Your kitchen reveal shows your talent with decorating! I love how your innovative window seat and how you accessorized your Charles Faudree pastry table and lamp and how you decorated your kitchen.

Shannon, everything about your Charles Faudree style home is absolutely gorgeous! I love looking over C. F. books and pictures of your home to get ideas for my own spaces. Could you pretty please disclose where you found your fabrics and the names of them that you used on your toile chairs and draperies in your sunroom. The brick flooring and use of granite on your alcove window was such a lovely and easy to take care of idea. love it all!

    • Hi Bobby, I purchased the chair at a consignment shop and the loveseat at a estate sale. Both of the pieces were out of homes that Charles Faudree decorated. The window treatments came with the house when we purchased it a year ago. However, I have done some research and have found the names of the two toile fabrics. The red chair fabric is by Waverly and is called House Toile Red Linen and is sold on fabric.com. The love seat fabric is also sold on fabric.com and is by Waverly and is called Country Life Garnet. The two larger chairs are chairs I had recovered in a fabric by French General called Paquerette Jacquard Rouge, and it too is sold on fabric.com. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for your very sweet comment, and I am so happy that you stopped by for a visit. I hope that you enjoy your week!!!
