Cozy Winter Home Tours

Happy Tuesday, sweet friends! Today, I am thrilled to be joining my blogging friends for a Cozy Winter Home Tour.  This fun tour is being hosted by the talented Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home. A list of the tours is posted below. If you are visiting from The Tattered Pew, welcome. Kelly has a beautiful home and lovely blog.

Decorating with winter in mind, has been quite difficult. Our temperatures have been unseasonably warm for this time of year. Instead of winter thoughts, I am dreaming of spring. Strangely, we have had two rounds of severe weather since Christmas. The Saturday after Christmas, we actually had a tornado touch down a few miles from the house. It took me by surprise with sirens going off while taking down Christmas decorations.

During the winter months, I crave sunlight and color. To be honest, it is my least favorite time of year. However, as I get older, I am starting to embrace the colder months. This time has become a time for me to organize, plan, finish indoor household projects, try new recipes, and just appreciate the nature that surrounds me.

The room I am showcasing for today’s tour is my Country French sitting room. The room has lovely windows which allow the sunlight to stream about the room. It is is the perfect place for curling up with a good book, enjoying a cup of tea or coffee, and taking notice of the beautiful nature outdoors.

Won’t you have a seat and join me for a cup a spiced tea?

Flowers are the perfect decor in any season. Nothing brightens up a dreary winter’s day more than a pretty and colorful bouquet of flowers. The fragrance is intoxicating and can lift anyone’s spirit.

My favorite time of day is the morning. I love to be up before anyone else curled up with a good book, sipping a cup of tea, and watching the gorgeous sunrise. Winter sunrises are the prettiest!

  1. Oh my! Breathtaking! Exactly what I love…Feast for the eyes…Greetings!

  2. Such a sunny feeling room Shannon! Your home always looks immaculate and ultra clean and perfect! I have a love/hate relationship with January, I like the leisurely feel of it with no holidays, and a chance to reorganize, but I hate the cold dreary days…having a beautiful light filled room is a great way to chase off the winter blues! I look forward to visiting the others on this tour, thank you Shannon!

  4. Shannon, I adore your country French sitting room. The loveseat covered in that toile fabric is just delightful, I have always loved toile. Your room has a beautiful ambiance with your lovely mix of furnishings and art work. The desk in front of the window offers a lovely place to write and reflect. Wishing you a joy-filled day sweet friend!

  8. I hope you hunkered down in your safe place. I know I was Friday night. Your room and view is lovely. I’m glad you are all okay. That coffee pot is gorgeous.

  9. So many beautiful finds in one space, Shannon. I can’t get over your view – it’s gorgeous! I love how you always have a tea service out. It always makes me want to slow down and savor a cup of London Fog no matter what kind of crazy business I have on the calendar 🙂 Hope your winter season is a relaxing one, hugs, CoCo

  10. I always enjoy looking at your blog and photos. I have always loved the country french/European look and did a lot of it. Now that I am older I seem to crave all ivories and space. Everything around here is going very nordic and simple. Still so nice to enjoy your style.

  11. Shannon, your home dressed for Winter is so beautiful! Such happy colors to make you feel warm and cozy!

  12. Such a cozy and inviting room. I would spend hours in there just enjoying.

  13. I looked at your pictures several times, just enjoying them and smiling. I love the yellow sunniness of your walls. Pink roses are my favorite and I covet the painting over your couch. I have been looking for a reasonably priced pair of Staffordshire dogs for ages. AND I have collected Moss Rose dishes for years–waiting to have a tea party! I, too, need happy colors to help offset seasonal affective disorder–meds, color, music, favorite books, and pretty scents all help, too!

  14. I’ve heard winter sunrises are pretty but girl, I will never see one. I hate getting up earlier enough for that! Love your cozy space and see why you love it so much. I could definitely curl up there with a book and some spiced tea. That sofa is AWESOME! Enjoy your mornings and the rest of winter. 🙂

  15. Shannon, your room is so pretty. And, my goodness the sunrise is breathtaking. I gasped when I saw your teapot and cup and saucer. My mom had that exact teapot, but her cups were shaped differently. I do not know what happened to them. They are beautiful in your home. Enjoy these winter days and a little dreaming of garden days. We will all be too busy, too soon! Blessings, sweet friend.

  16. Your sitting room is so warm and cozy! What a beautiful spot to welcome the day! Wishing you a warm and wonderful week!

  17. Shannon, what a feast for the eyes! There are so many beautiful textures and patterns to love in your country french room. The artwork above the love seat is especially lovely. Happy to be hopping with you!

  18. Great tour! Everything looks beautiful!
    Looks like a magazine.

  19. Your sitting room is so beautiful with all the colorful patterns and fabrics. I could imagine sipping tea on that pretty sofa on a cold winter day! Nice to hop with you again!

  20. such a pretty room Shannon. Your sofa is gorgeous, I just love Toile and all your wonderful pattern and French Country elements. it looks like a perfect place to relax and enjoy a quiet afternoon!

  21. Oh Shannon, that must have been terrifying hearing the tornado sirens — do you have a storm shelter? Glad you’re OK. Such a pretty room and so much eye candy! Two things in particular caught my eye. The first was the pillow with black and white roosters. My kitchen has lots of them in the decor, rug, and tableware (birds of a feather LOL). Second was the teapot. It looks like the same vintage pattern I used for my Wonderland tea party decorations and party favors. Love it!

  22. What a pretty, cozy room, Shannon! I’d love to start the morning there with a cup of tea, too! Love your sunrise pic!

  23. Everything is beautiful. I love to garden and I agree that flowers are the perfect picker upper.
    hugs,
    Jann

  24. What a lovely French country room! Your red toile love seat is stunning along with the other gorgeous colored chairs. This space is cozy and stunning and brings the colors of the sunrise in!

I enjoyed sipping tea with you!

  25. Shannon, your room is charming and inviting! I love your gorgeous floral arrangement! It is a pleasure to join you for the tour this week! Stay cozy! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  26. This is a gorgeous room and has a collected over time look that we all strive for. Your Majolica plate collection is especially beautiful and adds another pretty layer of colors. Lovely space Shannon, I would love to join you for a cup of tea anytime!

  27. Shannon I don’t know how I have missed your gorgeous toile love seat and those transom windows!!! How gorgeous! The sunny yellow walls and all your fabulous antiques and French treasures are so wonderful. I would love to have tea with you while chatting about all your finds. I am still hunting for some vintage Staffordshire dogs to rescue. So far I have only found one pair out of my thrifty price range. Every time I see yours and Christy’s at Our Southern Home I get more excited to find a pair.

Thank you so much for joining the winter home tours. Enjoy your spiced tea and sunrise!

  28. Shannon, you home is always cozy but especially so in these winter months. Your home is so beautiful, the colors, the styling and the French Country design is my very favorite. I can only imagine what a haven it is. : ) I wish you a beautiful week ahead, sweet friend! xo Lidy
