Christmas Upstairs

Good morning, everyone! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend! I can’t believe how fast December is flying by. Before we know it, Christmas will be here.  Today, I am giving you a tour of my stairway and upstairs dressed for Christmas. The upstairs bonus room is not a fancy room, but it is a warm and cozy place where my family gathers.

You enter the bonus room from a stairway off of the kitchen.

For the Christmas vignette, a beautiful gold angel graces the table.

Pretty red ribbon adorns the Luminara Lanterns. I love the lanterns. The light they give off is so warm and inviting.

The chest below the table gets a festive touch by adding greenery, a birds nest, red baubles, and a red bow.

Garland is attached to the railing, and the kid’s Christmas stockings are hung waiting on Santa’s arrival Christmas Eve.

Red checkered bows adorn the garland and tie back to the same ribbon used in the kitchen.

After you have made a journey up the stairs, you enter the bonus room. It is a room with low ceilings, but it is a nice large space that houses a television area, home office, and reading nook.

This year the color palette for the upstairs tree is red and green. I made this tree topper by making a large bow and attaching it to two red sparkle branches.  Curlicues were added for a touch of whimsy.

I made matching bows to place throughout the tree. This tree is for my kids, so traditional Santa and collected ornaments adorn the tree.

I kept the coffee table vignette simple by placing a Christmas arrangement and a bowl filled with ornaments and pine cones on a tray.  This can easily be moved, when snacks are placed upon the table for enjoying while movie watching. A favorite thing we enjoy doing as a family, during the Christmas season, is eating snacks around the coffee table and watching Holiday movies.

  13. Your home is gorgeous and better yet homey. I am in the market for chairs. May I ask where you purchased the paisley chairs.

    • Hi Linda! I am so sorry that I am late in responding to your question regarding the chairs in my family room. Things have been kind of crazy with the holidays and on top of that we have been getting new flooring and windows installed along with remodeling our master bath. I think we have lost our minds attempting this during this time of year-lol! About the chairs…they belonged to my in-laws. My mother-in-law was remodeling and gave these chairs to us. They are Ethan Allen, and I did some research, and they still make the same model. It is called the Avery. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for your very sweet and kind words. I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, and I want to wish you a very happy, healthy, and blessed New Year!!!

  14. The stockings on the stair rail is such a great idea. I might have to try that next year.
