An Easter Tree and Spring in the Kitchen

Good morning, dear friends! I hope that your week is off to a great start and that you had a wonderful weekend. Our weather was gorgeous this weekend, and we enjoyed lots of time outdoors. Mr. Bleu was busy with outdoor projects that I can’t wait to share with you at a future date. He also cleaned some of the underbrush in the woods behind the house. The cut branches inspired the kids and I to create an Easter tree.

The roots of the tradition of an Easter egg tree can be traced back to Germany. However, the origins of its story has been lost over time. During the Easter season, trees are decorated both outdoors and indoors with colorful eggs. Eggs are a long held symbol of new life…the perfect symbol for the rebirth that happens in the spring.

Creating a pretty Easter tree is simple. A blue and white chinoiserie pot that I had on hand was the perfect container for our tree. A clay pot or vase would also work great. First, I cut the tree down to the appropriate size. Next, floral foam was cut to size and placed in the pot to secure the tree in place. It is important to use floral foam for silk arrangements for this project. It is the strongest and will serve as a good support for your tree.

While visiting a local craft store, I found a wired pastel berry garland to wind around the branches of the tree. I also purchased these pretty egg ornaments in an assortment of colors and patterns.

These adorable bunnies in nests were the perfect finishing touch. They are actually picks that I attached to the branches of the tree using floral wire.

To cover the floral foam, I tucked moss around the base of the tree. Easter egg grass would also work.

A cute bunny and treats sit at the base of the blue and white pot. An eleven year old boy, who shall remain nameless, kept sneaking jelly beans from my display while I was trying to take pictures. I guess I can’t blame him. I may have had a few myself.

This was such a fun and easy project to do with my kids. It will also make a great centerpiece for our Easter buffet.

As you look around the kitchen you will find other simple spring touches. French lavender in a floral MacKenzie Childs pitcher joined by a rabbit teapot creates an easy vignette.

An April Cornell tablecloth, green straw placemats, pink napkins, and a bouquet of faux pink hydrangeas adorn the breakfast area for a pop of seasonal color.

My friends, it is so easy to add simple spring touches to brighten your kitchen. Pretty tea towels, spring bouquets, or just a lovely tablecloth can refresh your space and lift your spirits. I’m so happy that you stopped by for a visit, and I want to wish you a most beautiful day filled with joy and blessings!

Shannon, the moment I opened your post, I felt a sense of calm–your home is so charming! I love all your Easter touches. I just purchased a darling little egg tree and am so enjoying it. It was only $20.00 (from Big Lots), has 18 colored eggs, leaves and flowering branches, and a sweet picket fence with more flowers at the bottom, and battery powered lights–a really great find incase anyone is interested in purchasing an egg tree. Hope your Easter is egg-specially wonderful, sweety.

  11. Shannon, Your kitchen is warm and inviting with so many pretty things. I love the Easter tree you and the kids created. What a fun time together.
When my grandchildren were here I planned to do one and had sprayed a limb in anticipation of doing that. Well, I could not find my ornaments and was so disappointed that we did not have time before they left to put one together. Of course, I found them after they left. In my mind, I have intended to decorate it and make a picture for them. I hope to be able to do that!
Shannon, have a very blessed Easter.
