Happy Tuesday, dear readers! I hope this new year finds you well and staying warm. We have been below freezing for the past few days, and I am definitely ready for spring to arrive. On this cold winter’s day, I am thrilled to invite you inside for a warm cup of tea and a few delicious treats.

Today, I am honored to gather with my tea loving friends, Pam from Everyday Living and Mary from Home is Where the Boat Is, as a guest for Tea on Tuesdays. On the third Tuesday of each month, my dear friends share their beautiful tea settings, and you will find the links to this month’s settings at the end of this post. They were so gracious and kind to invite me to join them.
My tea setting on this frigid winter’s day is a special one. It is in honor of my dear daughter, Caroline. Today, she is starting a new semester of graduate school, and I am so proud of her. She returned to school this past weekend, and I will admit my heart is a little sad. I am so happy for her and all that she is accomplishing, but as a mother I miss seeing her smiling face each day. We were blessed with a wonderful Christmas and Winter Break. Many treasured memories were made and for that I am truly grateful.

Last week, I planned a little quite time and a special tea for my precious daughter.

The tablecloth is by Couleur Nature. Their linens are inspired by the beauty of Southern France. Crown Linen Designs blush ruffled placemats anchor each place setting and are accented by green checked napkins.

The tea set and dinnerware are Famille Rose by Williams Sonoma. I have admired this pattern for quite some time, and finally started my collection last fall. I know I don’t need anymore dishes, but I just couldn’t help myself. Pretty dishes are definitely my achilles heel.

“Come, sit down and have some tea. Bread and butter, cream and sugar. Now tell me of your troubles.”-A.A. Milne

For the centerpiece, I chose pink roses, white carnations, and nandina placed in a MacKenzie Childs Flower Market green pitcher.

“Wherever you are in the world, you are at home when tea is served.”-Earlene Grey

For our special tea, I made a batch of orange scones. They were such a delicious, sweet treat for us to enjoy.

In addition to the scones, we enjoyed homemade pimento cheese sandwiches, tortilla rollups, and crudites.

Our favorite tea flavor, Earl Grey, was served with a touch of honey.

It is no secret that I am so proud of my daughter and all of her accomplishments. It was such a joy to prepare tea and treats and set a beautiful tea table in her honor. To be her mother is truly a special gift.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”-A.A. Milne

Sweet friends, thank you so much for your visits and kind comments.

I wish you a most beautiful day filled with many blessings. Please be sure and visit my talented tea loving friends to see their lovely tea settings.

What a beautiful way to show your daughter just how much she means to you, and how proud of her you are. I, of course, poured over every single picture, taking in all the special details and perfect presentation. The china set is beautiful and I sure it brings you great joy to use it. I also loved how you incorporated some clear glass pieces, and elevated the beautiful tea pot with the cake stand. But the MacKenzie Childs pitcher stopped me in my tracks! One thing I love to do when I read your posts and peek around the rest of the room to see how you have accessorized. Those tole plates atop your window are priceless, and I caught a quick peak of a rooster! Thank you for inviting us along on this very special event.
Good Morning Shannon! I love your beautiful table with your Famille Rose pattern with the pretty pinks and greens. I’m a fellow dishaholic so I understand completely that you couldn’t resist a new set. What a fun celebration to have a tea in honor of your daughter and her accomplishments. Your orange scones look delicious, along with your tea sandwiches. Your MacKenzie-Childs Flower Market pitcher makes such a pretty vase for your roses and carnations too! Thank you for joining us for teatime today. ☕Hope you stay warm and cozy this week! ❄️❤️
Good morning, Shannon. Your table is beautifully set for your darling Caroline. It is hard for your mother’s heart to see her leave to return to school. I know you are very proud of her and her accomplishments. The tablecloth is a lovely foundation. The Famille Rose tea set and dinnerware are so hard to resist. I tried to convince myself that I did not need more dishware, but I sucummed and purchased. It is a charming presentation for tea! Your pink roses, white carnations, and nandina make a lovely bouquet in the MKC Flower Market pitcher. I would enjoy an orange scone and all Southern ladies love pimiento cheese sandwiches.
It is always a pleasure to have you join Mary and me for Tea on Tuesdays! Stay warm on this frigid day🤍
Beautiful tea setting on a cold, winter day!
Hi Shannon, how sweet to have a tea party to honor your daughter and her accomplishments! Such a delightful table to enjoy your tea and treats. The Orange Scones sound so good! The centerpiece pink roses, white carnations and nadina look so pretty in the MKC flower pitcher. I think many of us share your love of dishes, and it is hard to resist them when you spot something you love 🙂 I really enjoyed the quotes you wove throughout this post. Thank you for letting us enjoy your special tea party with you!
I love the combination of lime green and pink. Makes me think of my own lovely, precious daughter when I did a pink and green gingham bedroom for her. Your table and food choices are wonderful. I’m on a no tea diet but I can still enjoy vicariously through these teas. ☺️
Everything is gorgeous as always. Love the table setting china.
Shannon, it's cold here in Austin this morning, so I welcome this charming tea table. I, too, have admired the Famille Rose collection by Williams Sonoma and have added pieces to my own dish stash. I've yet to add the tea pot, cream and sugar, or tea cups, but you are tempting me. I used my dinner plates and salads for my Christmas table this December, and of course my Crown Linen ruffled velvet placemats. You and I like many of the same things.
I'm happy you had some quality time with your daughter. What is she studying in graduate school?
Stay warm and thanks for inviting us for tea and those delicious treats.
Good Afternoon, Shannon. I am swooning over your Famille Rose collection by Williams Sonoma. Its pinks and greens are so lovely on your tablecloth.
I am so glad you spent quality time with your darling Caroline. I wish her luck in another semester of schooling.
Happy Tuesday, dear friend!
Shannon, this is so gorgeous! I love pink and green together. Your Famille Rose collected pieces are simply beautiful, The textile choices really make it feel like spring is not in the too far distance. (Spring, come soon!). Your menu choices are wonderful too. I would thoroughly enjoy all those flavors. I concur with you and your pride for your daughter's accomplishments. Both of my girls are in graduate programs right now, one will graduate this May. It is so satisfying and gratifying to see them find what makes them happy. Thank you for sharing your special teatime for Caroline. Best wishes, Caroline, for your success in life!
Shannon, such a stunning table. Your Famille Rose dishes are so pretty with pink and green. The Crown Lenten napkins are lovely. How special to sit down and enjoy A mother- daughter tea before Caroline goes back to college. Your orange scones look delicious. Stay warm and cozy this winter.
Shannon that you for sharing your beautiful table for tea and scones and sandwiches and….there are so many beautiful elements it is hard to pick just a few. Congratulations to your darling Caroline and all she has accomplished, knowing that her parents can take credit for teaching her the values and basics of staying the course. …no college pun intended. The pinks and greens are hard to resist (for me anyway), I know I have no will to stay away from the temptation of special dinnerware., even though there is literally no room for more at my home. Tell that to my eyes and heart. LOL Pimento cheese is one of my favorites and homemade is even better. The flowers are lovely my friend. Stay warm and love your sweet one even more than you already do…so soon they are living their own lives across the miles.
You have so inspired me to keep my table! I was considering storing it away but you’ve changed my mind and we’ll continue to use it. Your pinks and greens and blues are so feminine. Your food looks yummy and what stands out to me the most are your beautiful roses! Congratulations to your daughter and you too Mom for a job well done!
