Merry Monday, dear readers! Only two more sleeps until the big day arrives. My heart is full of blessings and joy this Christmas season, and I hope your’s is too. No matter our struggles, we have so much to be grateful for. On that cold night so many years ago, we were given the greatest gift of all.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”-Isaiah 9:6
Time has gotten away from me, and I am wishing every day that I could slow it down. I had planned to do two separate posts…one for the entry and one for the living room. However, time is running out so I have chose to combine them both into one tour. So, step on in out of the cold, have a hot cup of cider, and I will show you around.
I always love decorating my antique French buffet and cabinet for the season, and Christmas is no exception. For a festive touch, I added picks, flameless candles, and a few holiday treasures. The sweet angelic elves were a new find this year.
Often, I will change out the china in this cabinet. I have several china cabinets and way too many dishes and love to change them around. However, this year I chose to leave my Grandmother’s Spode Rosebud Chintz china in the French shelf. I have really enjoyed the dishes in this spot.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”-John 3:16
My Christmas living room is decorated in a traditional holiday style with many sentimental pieces scattered about.
From year to year my Christmas tree does not change much. The picks and bows may change, but the ornaments stay the same. They are a collection of angels and ornaments depicting the Holy Family that have been lovingly collected throughout the years. There is even an ornament on the tree from when I was a little girl. It holds a most special memory. When I was a little girl, each year my Grandfather and I would have a special date when he would take me Christmas shopping to buy gifts for my mom and dad. On one particular trip he bought me an ornament. Every year I hang it on my tree, and remember all of those fun shopping trips.
The nativity belonged to my Grandparents. They loved Christmas so much!
“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”-Luke 2:8-10
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest.”- Luke 2:13-14
On the coffee table, stands my favorite Scottish Santa that I actually gifted to my Grandfather several years ago. My aunt and uncle sent me this beautiful poinsettia with a tartan bow that ties back to the Santa perfectly.
My dear friends, I wish you a blessed and joyous Christmas!
It is all so beautiful! Merry Christmas to you and your family. RHill, TX
