Celebrating Summer

Good morning, dear friends! Today, I am so excited to be joining some of my blogging friends to show you how we celebrate summer. This fun tour is being hosted by the sweet and talented Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home.  You will find links to the participating bloggers at the end of this post. If you are visiting from Cecilia’s blog My Thrift Store Addiction, welcome. I am so happy that you are here!

As a family, one of our most favorite things to do during the summer is cook and dine outside. Summer is a time when things move at a slower pace. The longer days allow you to linger outside for just a few moments more enjoying all of the beauty that nature provides. Mr. Bleu and I spend many of a summer evening sitting on the back porch reflecting on the days events or precious memories. Cicadas and tree frogs provide a musical backdrop.

For my summer celebration, I chose to do a cheerful, alfresco summer tablescape on the back deck. Sunflowers always make me smile. They are one of the happiest of flowers!

The American Fostoria goblets are brimming with peach tea. It has become my favorite summertime beverage.

The underpinning for the table is a French tablecloth that I bought from a delightful French import store in New Orleans. When I am in the area, I always stop by, because they have the prettiest French table linens. For the plate stack, I used my Mikasa English Countryside topped with a salad plate. The pattern of the salad plate is Toile de Jardin by Queen’s.

Up next on the tour is my sweet and very talented friend, Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate. I know that you are sure to find a summer celebration at her house.

Thanks so much for your visits! It is my wish that you enjoy and relish in that last lingering days of summer. May you all have a most terrific Tuesday!!!

  24. Shannon, your tablescape is stunning! I love the blue and yellow theme and the sunflower centerpiece is the perfect finishing touch. It looks like the perfect place to sit and dine while enjoying your wonderful backyard – I just love those trees! So happy to be hopping with you!

  25. Shannon, your summer table is gorgeous. I love sunflowers too. I love the French blues. Would you share the name of the store in New Orleans, as we go every year after Christmas and I’d love to check it out. Our summer outdoor dining is over as the August heat is now in the 100’s. Your patio looks so cool and inviting.

  26. Shannon, I am so glad to see you are posting again. I love your style. I prefer a warm, traditional french country look myself, and I feel like it’s hard to find in “blog land”. Everything is so white, gray, or neutral, which I also like in pictures, but don’t feel is “homey” to live with, for me personally. I’m so glad you are continuing to post! It’s great to have design inspiration I can relate to that’s bucking the all neutral-gray-white trend!
